|A Job To Be Done|
The smell of breakfast was divine, and he didn't let me down. It was just as satisfying as it always was to make me feel full before school. The majority of our interactions were typical. Because of the people in our immediate vicinity, not many jokes were told. Ace didn't seem to feel at ease being near me while his friends were around. It was terrible, but I suppose it made sense. Ace had a peculiar way of doing things, so we should minimize our connection.
See, he thought there was something wrong with my outfit even though I wasn't trying to pull a practical joke on him this time. I adored it, but once again, it was mostly the shirt. My body complemented the color and length so beautifully. Being looked at by someone like Jake Trubisky was not all that provocative. Ace, though, remained unimpressed. If I didn't change, he was even ready to go so far as to make us late for school. That man was insane.
"You need to change." He was firm in his speech. He was acting like a father.
I scoffed, frustrated. "I refuse to change," I declared. "There was nothing wrong with this shirt."
His position remained unchanged. "Everything about it is flawed. Change now." I was enraged when he used that tone once more.
I wrinkled my nose at his infatuation forcing me to alter my clothes. I initially thought he sounded like my father, but this was not the case. His red cheeks and the look in his eyes as he begged me to change told a different story. Not that he would ever tell me the truth about that. Both of us were too obstinate to be straightforward. Especially not with his friends around.
At best, the absurdity of these circumstances was comical. It seemed like we couldn't go a day without getting into a fight at least once. I never gave up easily in a dispute, as he was aware.
Although pushing me was pointless, I gave in today. primarily due to my eagerness to see Tana. Ace was preventing me from telling her all the things she needed to know.
"Stop acting like you're my father!" I was so furious that I yelled at him.
"It's not about being your father Reign. My only goal is to keep you safe." He quarreled. Right now, neither of us were ready to give up.
For the first time since coming here, his friend Tyler then spoke up. "I don't know Ace; she looks pretty hot to me." He grinned. "Look at those curves."
I shuddered physically at what he said. This guy, who I did not know, had to make such a remark. I didn't like it because it was disgusting and it just supported Ace's argument. I had to rush up the stairs to change after seeing the look he gave me when Tyler said that. Sort of change, that is. I just covered the shirt by putting on his sweater. Compared to attempting to find the ideal match, it was far simpler. If that occurs, we will be running at least an hour behind schedule.
I came trotting back, and even though I was annoyed at having to do this, my ears caught quite a mouthful. As I listened to them speak, my irritation abruptly gave way to curiosity. They used very ambiguous language, so I have no idea what they meant by any of it. That was done with good reason—just in case I was listening. It couldn't be good, whatever it was they were up to.
I hid behind the wall and paid close attention to what they were saying. There was no way Ace would tell me what was going on, even if I asked. He always had a plausible explanation, somehow, for everything. The man could always find a way to avoid explaining the truth. Every single time, he turned his attractiveness against me. But he couldn't be plotting something sinister, could he?
The girl who detested me, Hailey, was attempting to ascertain the nature of our relationship. "Is there something more going on between you two?" She wondered.

Romantik"You like what you see?" He whispered so seductively. I can feel my knees caving as he said that. "N-no," I stuttered. I'm not ever admitting that to him. The chuckle that escaped his lips made things exacerbated. "You sure? 'Cuz I can show you more...
