What lies beyond chapter 24
At the ELQ office, John was in the hallway waiting for Skye to arrive when his phone rang. Agent Cates, what did you find out? John asked as Skye approached. "That's interesting, thanks for the information," John said, then hung up the phone. "John, I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. Something came up," Skye explained. "It's all right. I've been waiting for years to bring down all the mob bosses," John replied as they entered the office together.
"Yes, you try to take down Sonny," Skye said. "Yes, I owe your ex-husband for that," John responded. "You don't know if Lorenzo did anything to Sonny," Skye countered. "We both know he killed Sonny. So, what is the information you have?" John asked. "I will get it together and handle it to you. You'll have it by the end of the week," he added before leaving.
Gabriella was walking toward her boutique when she ran into Carly.
"Carly, I hope you don't think you have a future with my father. He will never love you like he does my mother," Gabriella said.
"Your father and I were married a long time ago, before your parents were together. We have a past, and your mother doesn't want him anymore. He's up for grabs," Gabriella added.
"You're nothing but a gold digger. I heard all about you from my family. You were nothing when you came to town and slept your way to the top!" Gabriella said as Tracy approached.
"What's going on?" Tracy asked.
"Nothing, Grandmother. I was just telling Carly to leave my father alone," Gabriella replied.
"You better watch it! I could destroy the life you love so much," Tracy threatened.
"What does that mean?" Gabriella asked as her cellphone rang. "I have to take this," she said and stepped away for the call.
"What's going on? What are you hiding?" Tracy pressed.
"It's nothing, just warning your granddaughter to back off! Or I will destroy her," Carly warned.
"You will do no such thing! Gabriella was right about what she says about you," Tracy said.
Gabriella then told Tracy, "I have to go to the boutique. This was so much fun. Carly, just stay away from my father," and she left.
Tracy watched Gabriella leave, wondering what Carly meant by that, and decided to follow her.
