What Lies Beyond, Chapter 21
At the Quartermaine mansion—Skye, AJ, Elizabeth, Jake, Ned, Tracy, Monica, and Lila Rae were about to sit down for breakfast.
"Where is Gabriella?" Skye asked.
"I haven't seen her. Maybe she's still sleeping," Lila Rae said.
"I'll go wake her up; she needs to eat before taking her medicine," Skye said and went upstairs.
"So, AJ, tonight is the reopening of the hotel," Tracy asked.
"Yes, it's all set," AJ replied.
"Did you find a new cook?" Ned asked.
"Yes, I'll miss Ayden. He's a great cook, but I'm happy for him," AJ said.
"Me too. You made my son happy," Elizabeth added.
"Ayden earned it. Now, Jake, what about you? Have you thought about working at ELQ? It's your legacy too," Monica asked.
"I'm majoring in business, and I have thought about it, but Skye's running it," Jake replied.
"We need the next generation to work at ELQ. I mean, you too, Lila Rae," Tracy said.
"I have my singing career," Lila Rae responded.
"You need a career to fall back on," Tracy added.
In Gabriella's room—Skye walked in; it was messy, with clothes everywhere.
"Gabriella!" Skye yelled.
She went into the bathroom, which was empty, then left the room.
At the Quartermaine mansion—Tracy, Monica, AJ, Elizabeth, Ned, Jake, and Lila Rae were having breakfast together.
"Lila Rae, I don't always agree with Tracy, but I do on this—it's not a bad idea to have a secure future," Monica said as Skye came back into the room, upset.
"Skye, what is it?" AJ asked.
"Gabriella is not in her room. Lila Rae, do you know anything about it?" Skye asked.
"I know Gabriella was talking about a dress she wanted to wear tonight, but it's at Daddy's."
"Why didn't you say anything?" AJ asked.
"Because I thought Gabriella was still here. Mother, you can't keep us from our father; we're grown women," Skye said.
"I have to protect you both," Skye added and left, upset.
At a warehouse—Ava was leaving when John Cates appeared.
"John Cates," Ava Jerome said. "What have you been up to?" John asked as Ava smiled at him.
