What Lies Beyond, Chapter 42
At the General Hospital, in Gabriella's room-Gabriella was lying on her bed, sleeping when Skye entered. Gabriella woke up. "Mo-Skye," Gabriella said. "Gabriella, I know last night was a lot to handle. It was for me too. But one thing that wouldn't change is that I love you. I loved raising you, and I have no regrets about it. We're mother and daughter," Skye said. "I loved being your daughter, but I'm angry and I have questions." "It's alright to have questions," Skye replied as Robin entered. "Dr. Scorpio, can I go home?" "Yes, but we will need to put you on a diet because of your dialysis, and you'll have to start dialysis soon," Robin said. "What happens if I don't get a new kidney? Will I die?" "We'll deal with it when that happens, but I have a feeling we'll find you a kidney," Robin replied. "Yes, we will," Skye agreed. "You'll also be on medication. I'll go over that later," Robin added before leaving. "Mother, what about the store?" "I'm sure Charlotte will help you run it," Skye said. "I hope so. All I care about is you," Skye added.
Meanwhile, in Elizabeth's room—Elizabeth was watching the twins in the bassinet when Charlotte entered. "I wanted to meet your daughter, whom you named after my grandmother." "Yes, come in. This is Lyra." "She's beautiful. Thank you for naming her after my grandmother." "I loved your grandmother too. She loved you as well," Charlotte said. "Yes, she did. I had a lot of issues when I was younger, but I hope I made her proud before she left." "You did," Elizabeth responded. "I should go. I'm also here to check on Gabriella," Charlotte said, then left as Kevin entered. "Kevin, I'm glad you're here. I want you to meet my children, Ian Edward and Lyra," Elizabeth said. "I'm so grateful you named your daughter after Laura. She would love it." "I love her. Kevin, we want you to be a part of the children's lives. You are not alone," Elizabeth added. "I know. I've been feeling the love," Kevin replied.
Back in Gabriella's room—Gabriella was eating a little breakfast in bed with Skye present. "I'm having the maids get your room ready," Skye said. "Thanks, Mother," Gabriella replied as Charlotte entered. "Gabriella, I'm glad you're alright." "Charlotte, I'm glad you're here. I need you to take over the store." "Don't worry about it," Charlotte said.
