"Mommy? " I stood In front of the hotel mirror as I dried my hair.
"Yes sweety? "
"Is daddy coming with us? Why was he so angry? "
I looked into her sad face and almost broke down.
"Listen angel. You most likely wont be seeing daddy for a long time. You saw what happened earlier right? "
She nodded her head.
"Didn't he scare you? "
She nodded her head again.
"Well he scared me too, and when you're afraid of someone, you need to stay away from them a while because they need time to get back to their selves. "
"How long will he need time?"
"I don't know baby. But we gotta be patient. "
She began to cry harder.
I cried and held her until she fell asleep.
I didn't want this. I damn sure didn't want my daughter to go through this.
My phone began to ring for the seventh time this past thirty minuets.
"Deon.. " I whispered.
"Hello? " I tried to sound happy. I failed horribly.
"Yo, I been trying to talk to you. Where you been? I heard bout you and ya child's father. "
"How..? "
"Small town, people talk. "
I sighed.
"Oh.. well I'm Ok."
"The lies. Listen, shoot me the address where you and you're daughter are and ima come get you guys. "
"I don't want to burden you with my problems.. it's not right "
"Whats not right is having that beautiful baby girl cooped up in a room unhappy because her daddy was mean. Not to sound harsh or anything. But I wanna do this for her. Not you. "
"I understand. Well Im at the Hilton. Room 203."
"Got you. Get ya things together. Ill be there in a couple minutes. "
I hesitated then looked back at yoheaven.
"Alright. "
At least I know we'll be safe.
