Chapter 21

A few weeks later and it was Xinqui’s first birthday. The couple decided to celebrate his birthday at their place, Kawaii Chan was making a special cake for Xinqui, and Aphmau was knitting an adorable orange hat for him. Xinqui learned a few new words during the weeks and can speak a bit now and even learning how to walk. The couple were decorating their place for their son’s birthday.

Noi: “I can’t believe that Xinqui is one year old already.”

Pierce: “Yeah, so we have to make the best of this.”

Noi nodded as he put up the last of the decorations. As he was doing it, Xinqui was watching and tried standing up as he called out to his parents.

Xinqui: “D-Dad!” “Papa!”

The two turned their attention towards their son and saw him balancing on his feet. They rushed towards their son, and he tried to walk carefully and steadily. Once he got the hang of it, he happily walked towards his parents. When he successfully made it towards them, Pierce excitedly picked up Xinqui, and he and Noi were very happy that their son walked.

Pierce: “Great job, Xinqui!”

Noi: “Yeah, you did a great job!”

Xinqui happily laughed as he spoke.

Xinqui: “Did gweat!” “Did gweat!”

Noi: “That’s right, you sure did!”

Pierce: “We’re so proud of you, Xinqui!”

Then there was a knock at the door, Noi answered it and saw their friends.

Noi: “Hi guys, welcome!”

When they all came inside, Aphmau noticed the joy on Pierce’s and Noi’s face.

Aphmau: “Hey Noi, did something good happen?”

Noi: “Well yeah actually, Xinqui just took his first steps.”

Aphmau: “Wow, he did?”

Noi nodded, and then Aphmau handed Xinqui’s present to Noi.

Aphmau: “Here is his present, I hope he likes it.”

Noi: “I’m sure he will.”

Time flew by, Noi was talking with Aphmau while Pierce was cooking with Aaron’s help. As they were doing so, Aphmau’s kids were trying to teach Xinqui their names.

Amber: “Hey Xinqui, my name is Amber.” “Can you say it?”

Xinqui: “A-Ambwr.”

April: “I’m April.”

Xinqui: “Apwil.”

Adam: “And I’m Adam.”

Xinqui: “Awdam.”

The three were happy that Xinqui said their names, Noi was watching with Aphmau and was glad they seemed to be getting along.

Noi: “They seem to be getting along quite well.”

Aphmau: “You’re right.” “They may be older than Xinqui, but I’m sure they will become great friends.”

Noi: “Yeah, I hope so…”

His expression seemed to have saddened a bit, which Aphmau noticed.

Aphmau: “Is something the matter?”

Noi: “Oh it’s nothing really, just was reminded of something in the past when I was younger.”

Aphmau: “Did something happen when you were a kid?”
