Thomas looked at me puzzled.

"Why don't you come in?"

I mumbled something about space and leaned against the doorframe. It was hard to stand all by myself. My eyes kept fluttering closed.

The alcohol was kicking now. Apart from the boy in front of me, things were blurry and kept moving.

"Are you drunk?" He furrowed his brows and came a little closer. He sighed. "You are."

Hesitantly he stepped even closer to me. I guessed he didn't know if I was comfortable with him touching me.

He gently guided me into his room by the small of my back. The door closed behind me.

I was being sat onto the bed and closed my eyes. Thomas rushed into the bathroom and came back with a glass of water.

In the meantime I moved further to the edge of the mattress.

"Whoa, whoa, okay!" Thomas quickly steadied me by my waist as I slid down on the floor. Now my back was leaning on the bed and I pulled my knees closer to my body.

I felt sick and warm at the same time. I glared up at Thomas who kneeled down in front of me and examined me worriedly. His hand touched my forehead softly as he checked the temperature.

I kept staring into his eyes as he brought the glass of water up to my lips and told me to drink.

I swallowed the cold water and pulled a face at him.

"I don't feel very well." I murmured with an upset expression.

He nodded knowingly and put a strand of hair behind my ear.

"How did you even get the alcohol?"

"Janson's office."

He looked at me upset. "Why would you do that?"

"Kiara's idea."

Perfect. Keep blaming other people for your own mistakes.

He sighed and made me drink out of the glass again.

I saw in his eyes that he wanted to tell me not to do something like that. I bet he was thinking about the simulation.

"You really aren't afraid of anything, are you?" He muttered more to himself, but I heard him.

Oh, I definitely was.

"Being brave doesn't mean that you're fearless, it means that you face your fears." My voice was quiet as I said it.

He raised his brows impressed.

"Where did you get this from?"

My eyes wandered down to the ground next to him. Why did he have to ask that?

"My mum."

"Oh." He swallowed. I looked back at him and his eyes softened into mine. "I bet she was an amazing person."

That made me smile.

"She was."

After a few seconds of silence Thomas looked around the room and then back at me.

"I gotta bring you back to your room."

"Why?" I blurted out.

He blinked a few times, surprised.

"Well, I thought that is what you want." A frown. "Isn't it what you want?"

In my current state I couldn't really figure out what I wanted, though I could sense that the alcohol was already leaving my system.
