It felt new, weird to me. This feeling of worry and fear for the younger girl. My friend.
I never experienced that before. Not like this.
Drew was trying to talk to me but I simply pushed him aside and rushed into the bathroom. I kicked the cabins open just to find empty seats.
No Rachel. No Kiara.
I had a really bad feeling. Like something terrible was going to happen and I couldn't prevent it. I had lost control.
My heart was bumping in my chest as my feet hit the hard floor, my eyes darting around. No guard was near or they probably would've stopped me.
We weren't allowed to run in here. Stupid rules.
Stupid me. I should've asked Kiara sooner about how she was handling. I'm stupid for leaving her alone in the bathroom.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid-
My eyes catched a glimpse of golden wavy hair, disappearing behind a corner.
Rachel!
"Kiara, stop!" I heard her voice, piercing through the silence. "What are you doing?! Wait!"
My pace fastened.
I knew her. I knew what she was doing. She was too much like me.
But I didn't hear her answering Rachel.
Soon I knew why. I straight up ran in a panicked Rachel. She was alone, searching the many different directions with her eyes.
She lost her.
"Charlie?" Her voice was hoarse, scared.
"Where did she go?!"
"I don't- I don't know!"
"Shit." I grabbed her hand, pulling her after me.
Soon she was running by herself.
I knew every passage, every corner, every room. I had been here so often. At night.
The bright lights now werent calming me down. Rather the opposite.
Where the hell was she?
Drew once told me about the place the guards all slept. Somewhere near the kitchen. But Kiara didn't know that.
Rachel and I ran to the left, passing a few closed doors but not one single person. Her long light hair was flying through the hair. The only thing we heard were our own feet against the ground and the heavy panicked breathing coming from both of us.
I could tell something was happening at the compound at the moment. Something wasn't right.
Drew hadn't been able to follow me or he would be with us right now. Maybe I should've told him to come with.
Finally another person.
A guard who was sitting on the ground...no he wasn't sitting, he was kneeling.
And there was someone else, kicking him in the stomach over and over again.
"Kiara!" Rachels voice startled me. We both frooze for a few seconds, staring at our friend with wide eyes.
She didn't turn around. Her hair was messy and kept getting in her face. Her back was facing us.
That was when I saw what she was holding in her right hand. A sharp silver knife. Exept it wasn't really silver anymore.
A red liquid was dripping from the blade, wetting Kiara's white pants.
There was blood in the man's face who was lying in front of her. And his hands, and his hair, and-
Rachel finally unfroze and sprinted forward. I didn't know what to do. I had no reason to stop Kiara other than for her own good. But by now it was probably too late anyway.
The man was barely breathing.
Rachel arrived behind the younger girl and pulled her away by her wrist. Tried to at least. Kiara turned around and shoved the blonde to the ground. Then she saw me.
For a second we were just staring at each other. Her eyes somehow softened. I could see what was behind the anger and rage.
A frightened and hurt girl that never once in her life had been able to experience happiness properly.
Tears began welling up in my eyes. I stared at her. My best friend. I wanted justice. For her.
A cough from the guard pulled both of us back into reality. He spit blood on the floor, then grabbed his walkie talky and pressed a red button.
Kiara was on him in a second. Her eyes were filled with rage again.
She threw her arm back with all the force she could bring up and slammed the bloody blade down on him.
A terrible noise filled the room. I shut my eyes as fast as I could but I had already seen everything.
And it was over. Everything. The man had pressed the emergency button before Kiara...killed him. They would be here in no time.
A door opened and guards ran out, quickly getting closer to us. One of them was yelling things. Another two were aiming with their guns at the three of us.
Rachel still on the ground, quietly got up and crawled over to a shaking Kiara. She pulled her in her arms and sank to the floor like that.
Two men pulled them apart and pushed Rachel to the ground again.
"No! Kiara! Let her go!"
Kiara didn't say a word.
All I did was stare at my friends as the scene in front of me evolved.
One guard stepped on Rachels hand while the other pressed Kiaras arms behind her back with so much force that the younger girl screamed out in pain.
He shoved his gun into her neck and led her away from the chaos.
Two more men guided Rachel in the other direction. She was protesting loudly.
I felt my own body getting ripped away. I pressed my shaking hand down on my mouth and felt the tears that had wet my whole face.
Another door was opened. They pulled my friend inside. Tight grips on her arms. As if she was a prisoner.
I finally unfreezed and slammed my elbow in the chest of the man holding me.
"KIARA!"
"NO!"
"LET HER GO-"
A hit at the back of my head and everything went black. The last thing I felt was pain.
Oh my god I didn't plan for that to happen
T-TI listened to music while writing, I think that was the cause-
