Kiara had said she didn't want to come to the meet up today. By now I was getting worried about her.
Since a week or so she had been behaving differently. Quieter and less aggressive. But her loud, annoying personality was exactly what I loved about her and I couldn't help but think that something was wrong.
Maybe she had gotten into a fight with one of the other girls. It had happened before.
I decided not to go to the meet up either. It felt bad not to come without telling Thomas, but there was no way to communicate with him without going to him.
I hoped he wouldn't worry about us.
A warm feeling evolved in my stomach at the thought of him hugging and comforting me the last time I saw him.
I wanted to see him again, but I had to put Kiara first for once.
Looking for the younger girl, I walked through the bedroom and checked some of the beds, but she wasn't there. Then she had to be in the bathroom or outside. It was late evening so I didn't think the second option was it.
"Kiara, are you in here?"
Four of four cabins empty. But there she was, behind the last cabin, sitting on the floor.
"Are you okay?"
Worried about her, I kneeled down next to her and touched her arm.
She flinched and I tensed up at the action.
"Did someone hurt you?"
No answer.
"Kiara, just tell me. I'll kick their ass, you know that."
...
The normally sarcastic and funny girl just stared at a spot on the floor and breathed way too calm for it to be normal.
I sighed. "Alright. But if you want to talk, I'm always here okay?"
A nod.

"Where is Kiara?"
Rachel seemed stressed. Concerned.
We were eating dinner together. This time without Drew and Kiara.
Kiara never missed dinner. I had known her for years and I knew something was wrong.
But the last time I asked her about it she ignored me.
"I don't know." I muttered under my breath, eyes on my food ration.
Hesitantly Rachel's eyes wandered from the door to our table. Her leg was shaking under the table. A nervous habit she had since I first met her.
I kept my mouth shut. Sonya had stopped eating. I catched her looking at me for answers, but I ignored her.
"I'm gonna check on her. Maybe she's in the bedroom."
"Rachel wait-"
And she was gone.
I let out a sigh, ate the last bit of dinner and stood up myself.
I wanted to know what was going on with the younger girl too.
Sonyas eyes followed me again and I sent her a short reassuring half smile. It probably didn't look reassuring at all.
On my way to the bedroom I passed one of the guards looking at me weirdly. I knew him, he had been here since the start.
I didn't know his name but I knew his voice and disgusting comments all too well.
I fastened my pace.

The door was wide open, the sound of voices coming from the inside. I recognised Rachel and soon I saw her too.
Kiara was sitting on her bed, leaning against Rachels chest, obviously sobbing.
The blonde girl was caressing her back and holding her hand while whispering calming words.
They hadn't seen me yet. Something kept me from showing myself.
So I stayed behind the door, listening to them.
"-and he wouldn't let go of me!"
A loud sob escaped the younger girl's lips. Rachels eyes filled with tears as well, in empathy.
Who wouldn't let go of her?
"Kiara, who was it?" Rachels voice was shaking.
"This guard." A sob. "You know, the one who's always standing near the bathrooms. The weird one."
I could read confusion on Rachels face. But I knew exactly who it was.
And that was all I needed to hear. I snapped.
I paced bacl through the empty hallway. But he was gone.
Where was that asshole?!
I darted down the hallway. Around the corner. To the left. A corner-
And I ran straight into Drew. Typical.
While I had to try and keep my balance, he quickly recovered and took ahold of my shoulder.
"Are you okay?"
I didn't have time for this.
"No."
My voice was shaking in anger. I had to find that man. I wanted revenge.
"Charlie, listen to me!"
He grabbed my shoulder tighter, forcing my eyes on his concerned ones.
"What?!" I snapped.
"The hell is going on with you, kid?"
Ah fuck it.
"That disgusting asshole touched Kiara!"
"Who?"
"I don't know his fucking name, Drew!" I attempted to push past him. "Let me through!"
"No, kid. Thats a stupid idea." His brows were furrowed. "I will talk to Kiara and then that man will get fired, okay?"
No, not okay.
Drew was taller and stronger than me, I had to give in for now.
A nod and he sighed in relief.

When Drew and I came back Kiara had left, along with Rachel.
I had no idea where they went.
