Sandboy

It's been a long time since I was able to spend any time with my mom. it always seemed like one of us was busy. Either it was her working on her new drama, or me with school and superhero stuff.

We finally had time to ourselves, and we took that opportunity to spend it together.

The two of us sat on the couch as we watched "Too Hot To Handle" on the big screen. It's literally been one of my favorite Netflix reality shows since it came out (well that and the circle). It just amazes me how these people are not able to survive with out touching each other, it's not even that long!

My mom, however, would only laugh telling me that if she was at that age she would...

... you get the point.

I roll my eyes once again as I watch how Lana takes away thousands from the sontestans cash pot. AGAIN.

"At this rate, there isn't going to be anything left." I groan as I munch on some popcorn, staring at the screen, annoyed. My mom chuckled, "You're talking like you haven't done any of this with-" I cut her off by throwing a piece of popcorn at her.

She laughed again, "I'm only joking. Goodness." I roll my eyes again as we continue watching how the cash pot slowly drains to zero.

My mother spoke again, "But since we are on that topic, how are you and Adrien? I haven't heard much since the fashion show." I shrug as I grab another handful of popcorn, "Nothing much has happened, which is good. I finally made up with Marinette and my friends, but I still feel guilty."

My mom waits for me to continue and I curl up against my blanket as I do, "I thought what I did was find, but I was scatterbrained, and I couldn't tell what part I should listen to, my heart or my head, and I feel like I made to many mistakes. I can't help but think, was I too selfish for liking Adrien?"

My mom sighed and leaned towards me, "To love someone takes a bit of selfishness, but it also takes a bit of selflessness." She smiled, "There's nothing wrong about falling in love." I sigh, "yeah, unless your obsessive." My mom looked at me, "Then that's not love."

I stopped to ponder her words as she continued, "Love and relationships go both ways, you are open and vulnerable to them, you are willing to care for them, but it also means you should be cared for yourself. And along the way you can make mistakes, but it's acknowledging them and learning from them that helps you grow."

She smiled again, "You showing that you have made mistakes is already one step in the right direction. So stop worrying your pretty head over what had happened in the past or what will happen in the future, and focus on the now, the present, the best gift." She affectionately rubbed my head and gave me a light kiss.

I smile to myself as she leans back to her spot on the couch, "Thanks mom, I needed that." She nodded, "Of course, now let's get back to the show, they only have 500 left in the pot. I gasped, "Already!"

A few episodes later, we decided to call it a night. My mom headed up to her room as I decided to stay back, thinking over what she said to me an hour prior. There's nothing wrong about falling in love.

I sighed and leaned back on the couch as Flaame flew up beside me, "Why are you still down in the dumps." I shrugged, "Just overthinking, as usual." Flaame rolled her eyes and started to eat the leftover popcorn, "Well, my best advice to you is to just stop thinking, the more you think about what happened in the past the more you'll miss now and in the future."

I scrunch my nose, "What is with everyone being so deep and poetic, it's kinda weirding me out." Flaame laughed, "I can be old and wise when I need to be. I'm special after all." I snort and she gave me a look before going completely still. "Did you hear that?"
