Morgan, Oliver, and I are walking to school together, with Xavier finally allowing the beta to go places without him hovering like an overprotective parent. Morgan claims it was annoying, but I know deep down he really likes how attentive Xavier is to him. He's so in love with Morgan I could vomit at how sweet it is. Anyhow, we were successfully able to shake off the possessive alphas today to have a morning together.

All is fine and well when Oliver suddenly asks, "Mama, what are those red marks on your neck?"

Morgan snorts, covering his mouth with a hand when I send him a warning glare. "They're--they're mosquito bites, baby. Don't worry about them,"

Gah, I should have worn a jacket that covered my neck more fully! Cyrus hasn't yet mastered the art of restraining himself when I'm in his bed. I've been going to his room occasionally after tucking Oliver in, and last night he'd been ravenous, kissing and sucking all of my skin he could get to. The hickeys he left on my inner thighs ache as I walk, rubbing up on each other with each step. Despite the discomfort, I like the reminder that his mouth was on me.

I've been adamant about keeping at the least our undergarments on, because I know if I see him naked again I'll want more than what we've done so far, and I don't feel ready for that. That doesn't stop my wolf from whining for our alphas knot day and night, though.

But I've resisted, and no more orgasms have ensued between us, except the time that Cyrus came into his pants after a heavy make out session. I'd pulled back to look at him, telling him how handsome he was, running a hand through his hair. The image of his lust-filled eyes as his core tensed beneath me is one I will treasure. The way he pulled me in as his climax overtook him, crushing his lips to mine and rutting up against my ass—moon goddess, he was too damn sexy.

"Is a certain alpha this so-called mosquito?" Morgan leers as Oliver looks between the two of us, evidently confused.

"Why would an alpha be a mosquito? You guys are being weird!"

I shoot an annoyed squint at Morgan that says I am so gonna get you back, but the beta feigns innocence, shrugging his shoulders with wide eyes.

"I think our friend Morgan here is drunk," I smile sweetly at Oliver, who looks even further bewildered. We've made it to the schoolhouse, other parents and pups filtering in from all directions.

"Hey, for one, I don't get sloshed at 8 in the damn morning. Second, I'm a teacher! You can't say that at the literal school I teach at. Oliver, don't go around repeating your Mama's silly words!"

Oliver gives us the stink eye. "I think you're both drunk," he says before running off to Flora.

Morgan spanks me on the ass before following him. I laugh in surprise, waving them farewell. I linger outside near the tree line for a bit, pondering what I should do today before I meet Cyrus for training.

Sometimes I attempt to help Pack House staff with cleaning or cooking, as those were the main skills I was allowed to acquire at the Blood Pack. But I can tell my presence makes them uncomfortable—their alphas mate working alongside them was bound to be confusing. I was neither his Luna, nor was I just any omega. Their behavior towards me was always careful and awkward.

I'm sad that my possible future people don't feel connected to me. I mean, I am the sole one responsible for my ambiguous status. Plus, socialization isn't exactly my forte, considering the first years of my life were occupied solely by Des, and the preceding ones after he died I was ostracized by even my fellow omegas for being a single teen mother. I've never been popular among crowds that I want to attract.

When I saw Beau the other day, laughing care-freely with a group of other omegas in the dining hall, I felt a sting of jealousy. How is it so easy for him? Wouldn't the ideal Luna be one capable of that—of using their energy to create an enjoyable, cooperative community around themselves?
