(Volcov POV)

I sat down across from Sarah, my eyes taking in her disheveled appearance - tied up and exhausted. I couldn't believe she had managed to mess this up so spectacularly. We had one simple rule: cut off all communication with the outside world. And yet, here we were.

"Why?" I demanded, my voice sharp and unyielding.

"B-because my dad found me," Sarah stammered, her eyes wild with fear.

"You swore they would never find you!" she yelled, her voice cracking with desperation.

I stared at her in shock, my mind racing. How could this have happened? We had gone to such lengths to ensure her safety, to keep her hidden from prying eyes. And now, it seemed, all of our careful planning had been for naught.

"How?" I asked, the single word laced with a mixture of disbelief and dread.

I sighed heavily as Sarah slid a folded note across the table towards me. "Where did you find this?" I asked, my brow furrowed.

"In my suitcase, after we fled from the hiding spot in the mountains," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "It said he wouldn't stop until he brought me back home"

I felt a surge of anger coursing through me. This was unacceptable. We had gone to such great lengths to protect her, to keep her safe from the family's machinations. And now, it was all unraveling, all because of a single, careless mistake.

"Do you have any idea what you've done?" I hissed, leaning forward in my chair. "Luka is going to find out about this, and when he does, there will be hell to pay."

Sarah's eyes widened in terror. "No, please, you can't tell him! He'll... he'll kill me, I know it!"

I let out a humorless laugh. "Kill you? Sarah, you have no idea what he's capable of. Death would be a mercy compared to what he might do to you."

The color drained from Sarah's face, and I knew in that moment that she finally understood the gravity of the situation.

"Why didn't you tell us?" I pressed, my tone laced with frustration.

"Because when I looked back, it was gone. The only thing I could do to not look crazy was to confirm it with Sam," she explained, her eyes pleading for understanding.

I paused, considering her words.

"You know what, I'll let it slide," a familiar voice said from behind us.

I turned to see our father standing there, his expression unreadable. "In addition, you keep the deal," he continued, as he released Sarah from her bindings.

I watched the exchange, my mind racing. I knew better than to question him, but the implications of his words were not lost on me.

Once Sarah had been freed, our father turned to me, his gaze piercing. "It's because we didn't hold up our end, and two, if we kill her now, there's no telling what could happen. Tell Luka to amp up whatever security we have. It's clear we have a rat."

I felt a chill run down my spine at the mention of Luka's name. The family's enforcer was not someone to be trifled with, and the thought of him being brought into this delicate situation only heightened the stakes.

"A rat?" I echoed, my voice barely above a whisper.

Our father nodded, his expression grim. "Someone is leaking information, and it's putting our entire operation at risk. We can't afford any more mistakes, not with Rat watching our every move."

I swallowed hard, the weight of his words settling heavily on my shoulders. This was no longer just about Sarah's betrayal; it was about the fragile balance of power within the family, and the consequences of any misstep.

As I watched Sarah leave, I couldn't help but wonder what other secrets were lurking in the shadows, waiting to be unearthed. And with Luka's involvement now looming, I knew that the path ahead would be treacherous, filled with uncertainty and the ever-present threat of retribution.
