Hunter's P.O.V.
Chapter 5.I watch silently, keeping my distance from her and her friend. I scoffed inwardly and I rolled my eyes. God I felt like a stalker.
She laughed as Ben moved to grab her. A pang hit me as I watch her quickly move, rushing to get up and run. He griped her arm and pulled her back down. Lily points a finger at him causing him to hold his arm up in surrender. Her stern face fell and she cracked a smile. She motions him to follow and they both soon disappear.
I sigh as I watch her go, God how she had grown. Gone was the sixteen year old girl who had once loved me. Gone the young playful girl who always smiled. In her place was a mature, stern faced eighteen year old who could probably drop people to their knees.
Though she had changed. She was different. I knew that from the moment I saw her in class. The moment I heard the cold tone in her voice at the bookstore, I knew she had changed, and I had caused it.
My phone started ringing pulling me out of my thoughts. I quickly answer not bothering to check caller ID.
"Hello." I grunted with a sigh.
"Hunter? Where are you? We were supposed to meet for lunch half an hour ago!" The light voice exclaims in a stern voice. I groan lowly as I stand from the table and head to the parking lot.
"Shit sorry Heather, I'll be there in ten minutes tops." I state rushing to my car. She sighs and I unlock my car.
"You forgot didn't you?" She asks disappointment lacing her voice. I pinch the bridge of my nose before bringing the car to life.
"I'm sorry babe, I was trying to catch up on some school work." I lie quickly as I head to a nearby dinner knowing she'd be there.
"School work? School just started Hunter, how are you behind on school work?" She asks me clearly annoyed.
"I'm not behind, I'm trying to get ahead." I lie once again causing her to let out a huff of annoyance.
"Hurry up." She growls before the line goes dead. I groan as I throw my phone to the side, hearing it land on the seat. In less then five minutes I arrive to the small diner.
I quickly find the fierce little red head who I called my girlfriend sitting in a booth at the back of the diner. She looked at the menu with her brows furrowed, an angry scowl on her face. I was in for it this time.
I slide in to the booth, sitting across from her patiently.
"You're late." She states not bothering to look up at me.
"I got side tracked." I muse as she puts down the menu and looks at me.
"With schoolwork, seriously? You forgot and you know it." She exclaims and I sigh.
"It won't happen again." I mutter knowing there was no point in lying to her, she'd see right through it.
"Better not, we see each other once a week and I'd rather not wait on your ass to show up." She and I nod. I sigh and smile at her.
"Won't happen again babe." I assure as she narrows her eyes.
"I ordered already, double cheeseburger and a chocolate milkshake, your favorite." She says happily, forgetting our previous argument.
I look up at the red head who was playing on her phone. Her brows furrowed. My mind wandered to when we had met. Heather and I had met a few weeks after I came back from visiting Logan, over two years ago.
We started going out soon after, and have been together since. She transferred colleges this year, and was two hours away. We only saw each other once a week now.
