About a week later, Athena had a concert to perform at—Michael's family was all there backstage, excited to see her sing live for the first time.
"LA, let me introduce you, to one of the most talented men I know," Athena smiled as the beginning beat of 'Hips Don't Lie' started, "The Genius—my friend, Wyclef Jean!"
The crowd erupted in applause as the two artists took the stage together, performing an electrifying duet of their hit collaboration. The energy between them was undeniable, and the audience could feel the passion and friendship emanating from both of them.
As the song came to an end, Athena and Wyclef shared a high five and the crowd cheered even louder when they hugged each other.
"Thank you, Wyclef," Athena smiled, "Lovely to have you tonight."
Wyclef smiled at her, blowing friendly kisses toward her before making his exit from the stage.
"Okay, um...." Athena trailed off, wiping the stage clear of water before someone had slipped in it, "I am not being held responsible for someone's injury!" she exclaimed, causing the crowd to roar with laughter.
The energy in the room was electric as the audience continued to laugh and cheer.
Here's the backstory: a few days before this—Katherine, Joseph, Marlon, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Randy, LaToya, Rebbie, and Janet along with Kayden and Ellie got together at Neverland with Michael and Athena, to discuss how they should reveal their relationship to the world. Janet had come up with this: make the big reveal during Athena's concert and another reveal at one of Michael's concert in a couple weeks.
"Okay, now I think there's something we're doing...." Athena trailed off as she looked backstage, "Are we doing this tonight or....are we holding off?"
The Jackson family, whole were still backstage, all exchanged glances and whispers. And Athena was part of the silent conversation by adding her input.
"I don't care when we do this, I just need a yay or nay," she smiled.
The crowd, curious to know what was happening, tried to maneuver around so they could catch a glimpse of what was happening backstage—unaware that the Jackson family, Michael included, were in the building.
"Now? Okay," Athena nodded, turning back to the crowd, "As you all know, I consider you, as my fans, my family—so you all know I am getting divorced from Liam Barlowe, correct?"
The crowd roared with approval, cheering wildly.
"Yes, queen! Leave that asshole!" one of the crowd members yelled out, causing the crowd to laugh.
Athena smiled before continuing, "As we are waiting on that divorce to go through—in no way, shape, or form, did I cheat on Liam. You all deserve the truth—I married him when I was fourteen years old, and he's been grooming me ever since."
