Tito took the lead and drove as fast as he dared on the winding roads. The others followed, having to pass each other anyway to get to Neverland—let's just say none of them lived that far away from each other—hearts pounding in their chests as they prayed for Athena's safety.
"Michael!" Bianca exclaimed, seeing the man pacing back and forth in the middle of the yard.
Michael looked up, seeing his family and friends coming toward him in a flurry of headlights and slamming car doors—all of them now fully awake and ready to help.
"We heard Athena's missing, so we're here to help you find her," Tito said, his voice shaking, "We don't know if she's in trouble, but we need to find her. She doesn't usually leave the property at night, right?"
Michael nodded, his eyes filling with unshed tears. He knew how much his family loved and cared for Athena, and he knew they wouldn't give up until they found her. Together, they began to search the property, calling out Athena's name and shining lights in random directions in hopes of catching a glimpse of her.
After thirty minues of mindless looking around and shouting for her, Olivia stopped in her tracks, "Wait! Has anyone thought of checking the security footage?"
"Liv, we can't do that," LaToya frowned, "The power is out. There's no wifi."
"Does anyone have a hotspot on their phone that we can connect to the computer?" Rebbie asked.
Bill pulled out his laptop and Javon pulled out his phone, turning on the mobile hotspot and they worked together to connect it to Bill's laptop.
Once Bill was logged in to the security system, he moved through the cameras methodically, searching for any sign of Athena. Of course the laptop was running super slow—being they were using Javon's cell phone data. As they watched the footage, a chill ran down their spines as they saw Athena in the animal sanctuary with Bubbles and Buddy. The lights flickered on the screen and then it was plunged into darkness. Athena got both pets out safe and then used the flashlight on her phone to safely exit the sanctuary.
"How long ago was this?" Janet asked.
"It must've been when the power first went out. Like three and a half hours ago," Michael added as he watched the screen intently.
"Okay, so she was in the animal sanctuary when the power went out," Tito inquired anxiously, "Michael, is there anywhere you think she may have gone?"
"Yeah," LaToya added, "Maybe she went to check on the staff in the guest houses? Or to check on the electrical box? Or maybe she's possibly calling her family to see if they lost power too?"
"Does any of that sound like sound like Athena's typical behavior in an emergency?" Randy asked.
Michael sighed, running his hand through his hair with a thoughtful expression on his face, "No, that's not like her at all. Athena is usually very calm and collected in difficult situations. I can't imagine her running around in the dark, knocking on doors. But then again, she might be trying to make sure everyone is okay."
