A few days later, Kayden and Michael were sitting with Athena, trying to convince her that having a big wedding was necessary for them, as well as for their families—more specifically Michael's family—to celebrate with them.

"Athena, I'm your brother—probably the only family member that will be there on your wedding day," Kayden argued, trying to make a point, "Austin and our other brothers—would you even want them there? And I imagine you don't want our sisters there—they'll be wreaking havoc all night. Nicole, I assume, is a definite no. And our father?"

Athena sighed, "Austin and the others can be there if they want to be. Our sisters, no. Our father, if he can find time in his busy schedule, sure. And it's a definite no on Nicole."

"Fair enough," Kayden nodded in agreement, "Probably best that Nicole isn't there."

"Who's Nicole again?" Michael asked as he tried to connect the dots of names of who Athena's family was.

"Nicole is our mother," Kayden explained, "She's not exactly.....a good mother. She just kept popping out babies until she got a talented one, which just so happened to be Athena."

"I haven't spoken to her in almost fourteen years," Athena shrugged, "Ever since she signed her permission for me to marry Liam at fourteen."

Michael wrapped his arm around her, trying to comfort her, "The good thing is you're finally divorced from that creep and about to marry me, as soon as we pick a date and figure out all the logistical stuff."

Kayden nodded, "We just need to be prepared for the backlash we might face from our family, sis—we both know Nicole is bound to demand to know why she wasn't told her daughter was getting married for the second time—and she'll definitely throw in an inquiry about why you got divorced from Liam in the first place," he said, "But as long as she doesn't know about the wedding, we don't need to worry about her questioning it until she sees 'The King and Queen of Pop Get Hitched' on the news or wherever she gets her information from."

Michael sighed, "From everything I've heard about your past, I'd say we've already crossed some crazy lines, sweetheart. But in any case, if you don't want those people there, then that's all that matters. They don't deserve your love or presence on a day like this—not if it's going to cause you anxiety."

Athena sighed, tears welling up in her eyes, "You're right. I don't need or want them in my life anymore," She turned to Kayden, "And I'm glad you'll be there. Bring Ellie. She's still your girlfriend, right?"

Kayden chuckled, "Yeah, for now. We're taking it slow," He smiled at Athena, glad to see her opening up to him more, "I'll definitely be there with Ellie. And family drama aside, I think it's great that you're finally able to let go of the past and start fresh with Michael. I know it won't be easy, but it's worth it," he added as he looked down at the time, "But I do think a big wedding is a good idea—I mean, Michael's family is pretty big, I'm sure and you and Michael....your friends combined....that's probably a lot of people."
