" Tell me you don't love me, and I won't ever show you my face. Push me away so hard that I'd stumble to even look at you. " He leaned closer to my face. " Push me before I kiss you, before I cherish every inch of you. " His palm trace...

VESTA'S POV
It was such a fun night out after my big job interview earlier. Getting drinks with Miguel and Anna was exactly what I needed to unwind and celebrate.
"I'm so proud of how well you did today, babe." Miguel said, squeezing my hand. His warm smile made my heart flutter.
Told ya, Miguel was one of my biggest supporters.
" Thank youuu! I felt really good about it. Hopefully they liked me as much as I liked them."
Anna raised her cosmo. "Of course they loved you! You're, like, the coolest person ever. They'd be idiots not to hire you."
We clinked glasses and I took a big sip of my margarita. The salty-sweet liquid went down smooth.
"I just have such a good feeling, you know?" I said. "This could be the start of an amazing new chapter."
"For sure," Anna agreed. "We're gonna be celebrating your sweet new gig very soon, I can feel it."
Miguel put his arm around me and kissed my cheek. "My girl's a total rockstar. I know whatever happens, you've got this."
Feeling the warmth of my two favorite people's support, I felt so incredibly grateful. I was hired at first go, just after graduating from college. What else could be possibly great ?
Everything was going smoothly so far. At this rate, I hope I don't jinx it. Tonight, being here joking around and cheering to the future with them, everything felt pretty darn perfect already.
Miguel took a sip of his beer and turned to Anna with a sly grin. "So Annie, how'd that blind date go the other night? The one you were so nervous about."
Anna rolled her eyes dramatically. "Ugh, don't even get me started. What a dude. He was getting on my nerves instead of making me nervous. "
"No way!" I laughed. "But you were drooling over his Instagram pics last week."
"Yeah, well, pictures can be deceiving," Anna huffed. "The guy seemed way cooler online. In person, he was just not my type at all."
Miguel raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? What was wrong with him?"
"Where do I start?" Anna took a long gulp of her cosmo. "First of all, he was late. Like 45 minutes late to the restaurant without even a text to let me know. Strike one."
She raised a finger for each infraction. "Then, he obviously spent more time on his hair than picking an interesting conversation topic. It was all boring small talk and humble brags about his college lacrosse trophies. So lame."
"Yikes," I cringed. "Well, at least he looked good?"
Anna scrunched her nose. "Eh, his photos were definitely the peaked-in-high-school, heavy filter vine. Not as hot as I thought. Zero chemistry."
