TAEHYUNG'S POV
I leaned against my car, lazily spinning my keys as I waited for Vesta. The mid-morning sun bathed everything in a warm light, and a soft breeze rustled through the trees. It was the perfect day.
I’d been counting down the days to this date, wanting to just spend time with Vesta away from work and the usual stress.
My attention snapped to her stepping out of Anna's building.
She wore a flowing sundress that fluttered around her legs in the breeze, and her hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders. She glowed, and for a second, I forgot how to breathe.
As she approached me, her smile made me smile back without even thinking. It was crazy how, even now, she still had this effect on me.
"So, Dr. Kim." she said. "ready for our date?"
I pushed off the car and closed the distance between us. "More than ready, Ms. Laurent. You look beautiful."
She blushed, and I couldn’t help but find it adorable. I moved to open the passenger door for her, but she hesitated.
"Actually, how about we walk instead?" She insisted.
I raised an eyebrow. "Walk?"
She nodded. "Yeah. It's such a nice day. I’ve always loved the idea of just wandering around with no plans. Maybe we’ll find a cute café or a park. What do you think? This way, we can spend more time strolling."
Her suggestion caught me off guard, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. It was spontaneous—something different from our usual routine. And honestly, the idea of just strolling around with Vesta sounded perfect.
"You know what?" I said, pocketing my keys. "That sounds amazing. Anything for you."
Her face lit up as she wrapped her arm around mine, and I felt a pleasant feeling rush through me.
"Shall we?" I asked, gesturing down the sidewalk.
"We shall," she replied with a smile.
We strolled through the streets of LA, her arm comfortably linked with mine. The warmth of her body next to me made everything feel so right.
"You know," I said with a grin, glancing down at her, "I've lived in LA for years, but I’ve never really taken the time to just explore like this. It’s nice."
She looked up at me, curious. "Years? I thought your home was in South Korea? When did you move here?"
I nodded. "Yeah, that’s right. I moved here when I was 19 for medical school."
As we kept walking, I told her more about it. "It was a big change, coming here. But I was excited about studying in the States. It wasn’t always easy, but it made me who I am."
