" Tell me you don't love me, and I won't ever show you my face. Push me away so hard that I'd stumble to even look at you. " He leaned closer to my face. " Push me before I kiss you, before I cherish every inch of you. " His palm trace...

TAEHYUNG'S POV
I was trying to focus on some patient files, but my mind kept wandering back to Vesta and the events at the lodge. A soft knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in," I called out, grateful for the distraction.
Olivia entered, her face was drawn with worry. She sat down across from me.
"Taehyung," she began hesitantly, "I wanted to talk to you about Miguel and Vesta."
I set down my pen, giving her my full attention. "What about them?"
Olivia sighed. "I know what Miguel did was wrong, but don't you think Vesta is being a bit hasty? Everyone makes mistakes. Maybe if we talked to her, convinced her to give Miguel another chance-"
"Stop right there." I interrupted, feeling a surge of anger. "What Miguel did wasn't a mistake, Olivia. It was a choice. A series of choices, in fact."
How can she even think of it ? That there's a second chance for betrayal?
Trust is everything and once it's lost, it can't be build up.
Olivia flinched at my tone but pressed on. "But he's young, Taehyung. He's still learning. Surely he deserves a chance to make things right?"
I stood up, pacing behind my desk. "Learning? He's 25 years old, Olivia. Old enough to know better. Old enough to understand the consequences of his actions." I spat.
"But-"
"No buts." I cut her off again. "Cheating isn't a mistake. It's a betrayal. It's a deliberate decision to violate someone's trust. To hurt them in one of the deepest ways possible. Anyone can love you in a relationship but if they can't trust you , be faithful and loyal, there's no love then. "
Olivia scoffs out. "He's my son, Taehyung. I can't just give up on him."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "I'm not asking you to give up on him. But supporting him doesn't mean excusing his behavior or trying to pressure Vesta into taking him back. And there's no way, I'm going to stand and watch him pursue Vesta again. Never. "
I didn't know if I was stating this as a concern or. . . .
"I just thought if we could get them to talk-"
Something in me snapped. "Olivia, listen to yourself. Have you forgotten why you divorced Miguel's father? Have you forgotten how it felt to be cheated on, over and over again?"
The color drained from Olivia's face. I knew I'd hit a nerve, but I couldn't stop now.
"Remember how you felt when you found out? Remember how many times you forgave him, only for him to do it again? Remember how it destroyed your self-esteem, your trust, your ability to feel safe in your own relationship? Remember how pathetic you had turned out ?"
