" Tell me you don't love me, and I won't ever show you my face. Push me away so hard that I'd stumble to even look at you. " He leaned closer to my face. " Push me before I kiss you, before I cherish every inch of you. " His palm trace...

VESTA'S POV
The morning sun streams through Anna's apartment windows, casting a warm glow over the kitchen where I stand, hair piled messily atop my head in a haphazard bun. I yawned, still not fully awake, as I shuffled around in my oversized t-shirt and shorts.
The following week has been crazy, with lots of presentation and paperwork at office. I needed more sleep.
"Vesta, you're an angel." Anna calls from the living room, her voice muffled by the blanket she's cocooned herself in on the couch. "I don't know what I'd do without your magical breakfast skills."
I chuckled, shaking my head as I crack eggs into a bowl. "You'd probably starve." I teased back. "Or live off cereal and takeout."
Anna groans dramatically. "Don't remind me of my pre-Vesta dark days. So much instant noodles. "
As I whisk the eggs, adding a pinch of salt and a dash of cream, I can't help but smile. These lazy weekend mornings with Anna have become a cherished routine. With Taehyung working long shifts at the hospital, it's nice to have my best friend at times.
"So," Anna says."Speaking of your magical skills, how's the papi chulo doctor enjoying them?"
I nearly drop the whisk, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. "Anna!"
"What?" she laughs. "I'm just asking about your cooking, of course. Why, what did you think I meant?"
I rolled my eyes shaking my head even though she can't see me from the living room. "Sure you were. And Taehyung's fine, thank you very much."
"Just fine?" Anna presses, and I can practically hear the grin in her voice. "Come on, Ves. Give me something juicy. How's the romance? The passion? The se--"
"Anna!" I exclaimed, laughing despite myself.
Anna's laughter joins mine. "Alright, alright," she concedes. "But seriously, things are good?"
I paused in my cooking, a soft smile tugging at my lips as the man I love flashes in my mind. "Yeah," I said quietly. "Things are amazing."
There's a moment of comfortable silence before Anna speaks again. "I'm happy for you, Ves. You deserve someone who makes you smile like that."
Her words touch me, and I feel a swell of affection for my friend. "Thanks, Anna."
"Okay, enough mushy stuff." Anna declares. "I'm gonna hop in the shower. Don't burn down my kitchen while I'm gone!"
I laughed, turning back to the stove. "No promises."
As Anna disappears into the bathroom, I focused on preparing our breakfast. She'd requested something authentically French, so I've decided on pain perdu - a fancy French toast that I know she'll love.
