TAEHYUNG'S POV
I couldn't stop thinking about what might have happened to her, imagining her scared or hurt. But I tried not to think about it too much.
I had to remain calm. Had to find her.
Snatching up my keys and wallet, I rushed back through Yoongi's place, my friends' concerned voices washed over me. I gave them the shortest explanation possible - My step son's girlfriendwas missing and I was going to track her down immediately.
Namjoon made a move to join, but I shook him off. As much as I valued their support, this was something I needed to handle alone. The thought of them witnessing whatever unknown situation Vesta was caught in made my gut clench protectively.
My phone was a whirlwind of motion, using every technology at my disposal to hopefully locate her last whereabouts.
What if something happened and she couldn't reach out to anyone?
I found out she had stopped moving in an industrial area near her office. I quickly messaged Miguel the location and told him to meet me there immediately. All sorts of thoughts, from harmless to terrifying, raced through my head.
Don't panic. Breathe. Stay focused.
Miguel's car stopped abruptly in front of me, and he opened the driver's side door in a rush. Without letting him say a word, I got into the passenger seat and stared at him intensely.
I could taste the tang of fear as I followed Vesta's phone signal to this empty alley. Miguel's frantic words were background noise as I surveyed the unsettling scene: her things strewn around, some pit cover metal lids were shoved in abruptly.
I felt a deep fear grip me like freezing claws. I picked up her phone with shaking hands, hoping it would somehow make sense of the nightmare before me. But as I turned it over, the pieces of the puzzle started fitting together in a cruel, undeniable way.
The distant sound of water sloshing reached me, sending a chilling wave of horror through my body.
No, it couldn't be.
My eyes shot to the yawning mouth of the water tank, as if my worst fears might be confirmed. The water was overflowing from the tank.
A small ripple on the dark water below. That's all I needed to see.
"Call emergency services!" I barked the order at Miguel, whose face had drained all the color. But I barely heard his whimpering response. I pulled off my jacket removing it.
Vesta was down there, trapped and likely drowned , the water was overflowing from the tank since how long the almighty knows.
I knelt myself to reach out to the lid and l throw it off . My hands plunged into the water, feeling the wet fabric of clothes. I dipped my hand only to pull up a red scarf.
