Chapter 44

5 Years Later

We are finally alone! It seems like it has been forever since all of the kids were in bed and quiet. Thane comes into the master bedroom after his shower. I had just collapsed on the bed beside Max, who chuckled at me. He won't be chuckling tomorrow when he has to put the kids to bed by himself.  I give him the look that said revenge is coming.

"Are you tired, sweetheart?" Thane asked as he picks me up and puts me to bed under the cover.

"Exhausted! David didn't think that he was tired. So he wanted to stay awake until midnight. Because Daddy said that he was staying up for a few more hours." I look at Max again as he turns red at being caught telling our kids stories. "Then because David was staying up, Ginny decided that she was thirsty. Which made James need a drink. I get them all settled and then Victoria and Asher needed more hugs and another story. Because the first two stories were expired." I look at Max again.

He started coughing as if he was choking on something. I knew then that he had really been telling stories to our kids. Oh payback was going to be a cold hearted bitch!

"To end my night of never ending bedtime strategies, Tara decided to tell me that daddy said that she could sleep with us every night if she didn't want to sleep in her new bed. Max? Is there something that you want to discuss with Thane and myself?"

Max gets out of bed and starts pacing the floor as Thane climbs into bed next to me. He gathers me in his arms.

"What are you thinking about, Justice?" Thane asked as I put my head on his chest and my arm over his stomach.

"I am trying to figure out if I have enough money in my account for a new jeep for Angel's forgiveness." He picks up his phone and opens it to his banking app.

"That isn't going to work this time, Max. I will get revenge tomorrow when you put the kids to bed. Hyped up from the fair and sugar. Good luck with that!" Thane and I laugh at the shock and horror on his face.

"Oh God! Pleaase don't do that to me, angel! I am extremely sorry for everything that I told the kids! I can not handle them as well as you do. I will tell them that I was wrong for what I told them. But I honestly did not think that they would give you hell. They all think that you are the best parent. So I thought that you would get a wee bit of talk from them. I didn't think that they would go batshit crazy on you. Pease forgive me, angel. I will never do anything like this again for as long as I live!" Max was begging me now. I love it!

"You know that I don't like tricks. Especially when I am the butt of the trick or joke. You should think of that the next time that you want to tell our kids that type of bullshit. Come to bed. You will be having a very busy day tomorrow. Good night, baby."

Max gets back into bed and I turn to kiss him gently. "I am really sorry, angel."

"I accept your apology, baby." I tell my husband of five years.

"Thank you, angel. Does this mean that I will have help with the kids tomorrow night?''

"Nope! You didn't help me tonight. Revenge is such a cold bitch! But she is sweet." Thane laughed as Max groaned. One of these days he is going to remember that I am not the one to play his pranks on.

Thane kisses me good night just before I fell asleep. We had put the house up for sale and it basically paid for half of this house to be built. We also sold the condo which paid for the rest of this house plus the pool and play house that the guys wanted to have built for our daughters.

Our three boys and three girls all have their own bedrooms. The boys share a bathroom. The girls share another bathroom. Next month Victoria, David, and James will be five years old. In February Ginny will be four. Tara and Asher just turned three in November. Grace is six months old. I don't have to worry about getting pregnant again since I had a hysterectomy after Grace was born. But I had already told the guys that I didn't want any more kids. We had decided to put a halt to it. Then we found a tumor that was causing me to have several problems. The test results came back as cancer. Thank God they got it all!
