This basement has been bothering me for over a week.
The people who disappeared in it. There are rumors that it is worse than death down there.
I just went down to the living room. The cellar door was open, which is normally never the case.
I looked down into the basement.
There was no end of stairs to be seen, only darkness.
There was no one at home except me and my father.
I went into the kitchen.
The slam of the cellar door could be heard.
It was my father whatever he wanted down there.
"Y/n, I'm going away today, I'll be back around noon"
"Okay" With that he apparated.
This was my chance.
I ran up to my room. Got my wand.
I ran back down and to the basement stairs.
It was locked as always.
"Alohomora". The door opened slightly.
I pushed it further so I could take a look inside. It was dark.
The journey was so long. The stairs are steep.
"Lumos" it didn't really illuminate much but it had to be enough.
I started running down the stairs.
One stage at a time. It immediately became ice cold. I thought about whether I should just turn around again. What difference would it make? I kept running.
As soon as I got to the bottom there were two bodies hanging on either side.
They greeted you.
I walked past the bodies.
The smell of death hit me.
I walked down the tunnel.
I passed a room. I opened the door. There were some machines in there.
I continued walking until I came to the first cells. It was marked blue.
I looked into a cell. It was empty.
There was nothing in the cell, only iron bars. There were pictures of a drink mug and food painted on the wall. There was a bowl on the floor.
There was still blood on the wall, but it looked dry.
There was a button on the outside.
I pressed it out of pure curiosity.
The grilles were given an iron plate and water began to flow in. Then a flap opened and a powder poured into the water.
Rats immediately came from all directions.
I screamed.
The rats ran over my feet into the prison and began to eat the powder.
I moved on quickly. The next cells were all empty. Until I get a full comb. A man was sitting inside. I did not know him.
"Help me please," he said.
I looked at him. He was gnawed like a rat. He was so thin and had severe burns all over his body.
"He, he tortures us, kills us it's hell down here little girl if you take me out you'll get everything you want"
I looked at him.
"I don't need it. I already have everything I want"
"You're definitely a nice Death Eater so please get me out of here"
I didn't answer anymore and moved on.
The next man sat in the cell but no longer spoke. Rats were sitting on him and chewing on him.
It was all so cruel.
The man no longer had toes.
I moved on quickly.
There weren't anything in all the cells.
When I got to the end of the tunnel, a staircase went down even deeper.
I went down step after step.
When I got to the bottom it was the yellow zone.
I walked down the hallway at the beginning of nothing but empty cells.
Suddenly a red light went on in the cells a little further back and the floor suddenly turned to fire. People started screaming as if they were on fire. The red light went out and so did the fire.
I ran further back. There were prisoners right where the fire was. They had burns and so much more. I looked into one cell. The man looked like he was starting to get moldy.
I moved on quickly.
In the second cell, the man tore his burned flesh from his body and simply ate it.
I looked at him in disgust and continued walking.
In the next two cells were two women talking. Apparently they didn't get anything from the fire.
The two looked at me.
"What is a child doing down here?"
"Oh no come here"
I took a step back. The two women had apparently been here for a while. They had dead rats lying on the bars.
I kept running quickly.
There were the stairs again.
It goes depper down.
When I got to the bottom there was a big sign saying Death Eaters.
I walked down the corridor there weren't many people in here. There were skeletons in a few cells and I quickly moved on.
“ y/n do you want to get us out of here?”
They were the ones that were brought down here a week ago.
I looked at them.
"No, unfortunately I can't do that"
I took a step further.
“Y/n don’t go any further, there’s the red zone over there.”
I didn't listen to him and kept running.
The others who came down here a week ago just looked at me.
I went to the stairs and down the stairs.
There was a big red sign at the bottom. I walked down the hallway. There were no more people inside. Only corpses attached to chains.
I got to the last stairs quickly.
I went down to the last floor.
There were skeletons below. Some still had a bit of skin on them. It was so stuffy down here. I could hardly breathe.
I looked around the room.
It was so pitch black I could hardly see anything. It was so cold my legs started shaking.
I went down a notch. Suddenly an alarm went off. It was loud and a red light appeared. I ran back up the stairs and down the hallway
The stairs quickly came into view but I was getting slower and slower. A smoke rose. I kept breathing it in. I was almost enveloped by the smoke. It went black before my eyes. I continued walking, supporting myself on the wall.
It was as if the basement knew there was a person there.
A thick smoke rose behind me.
I reached the stairs and ran up them.
I ran past the Death Eaters. They also saw the smoke and were enveloped by it.
I heard them screaming.
I got up the stairs just in time as the Death Eater door closed.
I was safe.
I have no idea what the smoke was or where it suddenly came from, but I think it was deadly.
I walked down the hallway and up the stairs into the Blue Zone.
It slowly became brighter there again.
I walked past all the cells until I came to the stairs.
I started running up the steps.
In the light I noticed that my legs were gray with dust. I stroked my legs. The dust just wouldn't come off.
I went up the stairs. It was only my legs that were covered in the gray dust.
I opened the door a little, no one was there but noises came from my father's office.
I slipped through the small gap and slowly closed the door again.
“Y/n what are you doing?” My father said from his office.
"Is that the cellar door?"
"No, I just wanted to go up to my room"
I looked at my legs. If my father saw me now he would know I was lying.
I walked up the stairs extra loudly.
I ran to my room.
Did I lock the door again?
I quickly pulled a pair of leggings under my skirt and ran down the stairs.
My father was standing at the cellar door.
I smiled my innocent smile.
My father just looked at me.
"Escaped the smoke just in time?" he pointed to my leggings.
"No it wasn't close"
"mhhm. I would give you a sermon now, but I think you understand why you're banned down there, am I right?"
" Yes"
" good"
My father went into the kitchen and sat on his chair.
I followed him and sat in mine too.
"What did you want down there anyway?"
"I was curious what there was downstairs"
"You are generally too curious and that can backfire at some point. Hopefully you know that."
" Father. Dumbeldor once said when the dementor thing happened that we were marked, what does that mean?"
"It can mean good and bad. For example, a good thing would be that they want to protect you and a bad thing would be that they marked you so that you die, but I hope for you the first for Potter, I don't care."
"Okay, should I be worried?"
"No, I will protect you no matter what"
