Without being asked, I plunge into the cave with extreme caution. I move forward, looking carefully at everything around me. The rock walls are lined with bioluminescent plants of various colors. This natural lighting allows me to move forward without difficulty in the underground network tunnels.
After a few minutes of walking, I find myself in front of a large room. I look up and see the ceiling several meters high. It is covered in places with mosses and stalactites. Water slowly drips from the stalactites and slides across the ground. It accumulates towards what appears to be a small underground lake.
It is while observing this lake that something catches my attention. A glimmer, a glimmer at the bottom of the large underground chamber almost hidden behind concretions. The only reason I noticed this glow is because of the poor lighting in this underground chamber.
I slowly approach as if attracted by a lantern. Like a butterfly, I go towards this light almost unable to resist this attraction. In it I recognize something familiar, as if I had always known it. The closer I get, the more this resonance intensifies.
"This creature, if it is one, still hasn't noticed my presence. The stone beast said that I can't control the beasts that live on this plane, but I don't think that's the case. Moreover, I feel like this creature and I have something in common." I say to myself as I slowly move closer.
Placed behind concretions, I reach out my hand to the creature that looks like a burning flame suspended in the air. I concentrate and clear my mind. In this vast, dimly lit room, there is only me and this flame that burns peacefully. The space around us turns into a vast white and infinite space. For a moment, this abrupt change surprises me, which makes me lose sight of my goal.
The flame, which until then had remained soft and passive, stirred and then suddenly exploded. It burns with phenomenal intensity and releases waves of energy that push me back several meters from it. I bend over and lean on the floor with my left hand and finally stabilize myself. I stand up with difficulty while this flame still does not give the impression of calming down, on the contrary. I press my feet to the ground and maintain my balance with difficulty. I reach out and focus on the flame that burns intensely. Little by little, I feel a connection being established between it and me. The intensity of the flames gradually decreases until it returns to its original size.
"I don't know where I'm going and even less what awaits me, but I feel that with you this path will be less dark." I say addressing this creature. "Do you want to dive into the unknown with me and discover the mysteries of this world?"
The flame that has finally calmed down stirs again and then disappears and it reappears in front of me right after. Its intensity increases slightly and a soft warmth envelops me. At that moment, I realize that his previous outburst had inflicted light burns on me. However, it was in the process of healing the wounds it had inflicted on me. At that moment, the white world in which we find ourselves decomposes and is replaced by the great underground chamber in which we found ourselves.
I inspect my body and find that my shirt and pants are burned in places.
"Good thing I'm not going to a charity gala." I say to myself looking at my unkempt appearance.
Having found a companion on the road, I look at the different tunnels and choose the darkest.
"The creature I am looking for likes to hide. I have better luck exploring dark places." I say to myself as I move forward in this tunnel. This tunnel, which was originally very dark, is now very bright, which scares away the little creatures that are there. Even the larger ones don't dare to get close to me.
"This flame is really extraordinary, but it will scare away all the creatures that are hiding in these tunnels." I say to myself.
I look at the flame suspended in the air. Its intensity increases briefly and then returns to normal.
