"Good morning, Peeta," Amara said as she walked into the lab the morning after the troops were deployed.

"Good morning, Amara," Peeta said. She paused, and glanced over at him. There had been no hostility in his voice when he said his greeting. It was almost like he was completely defeated.

"How are you feeling?" she asked, glancing over his chart. She hadn't seen Peeta since she had been moved to planning the wedding, but it looked like the team had continued to treat him the way she'd advised them to.

"I haven't seen you in awhile," he said.

"President Coin tasked me with helping to plan Annie's wedding."

"Annie and Adrien got married?" he asked after a moment of silence.

"They did," Amara said with a bright smile, doing her best to hold eye contact with him. "Just two days ago."

"Good for them," he said, and his voice was almost confident. "It was about time."

**

"How are you feeling today?" Amara asked.

"I'd like to bake a cake," Peeta said. "Do I know how to do that?"

"Yes you do," Amara said. She sat down in the chair beside his bed to check his vitals. "You are very good at it. In fact, your ability to paint cakes so well is what saved your life in the first games."

**

"How are you feeling today?" Amara said as she threw her hair into a loose braid. She was running late this morning, but as long as Coin never found out, no one would get hurt.

Peeta didn't answer.

She turned around to look at him.

"Peeta, did you hear my answer?" she asked, but he appeared to be studying her.

"Katniss wears her hair like that," he said quietly. She glanced down at the braid over her shoulder, and gave him the back of her notes page and a pen.

"Can you draw her for me?"

**

"How are you feeling today?" Amara asked.

"How long have I been in here?" Peeta asked.

"Six weeks," she said.

"And when do I get to leave?"

"Today."

**

"Are you sure he's ready?" Coin asked, and Amara nodded.

"His brain activity is normal. He does not appear to be a threat to anyone in this vicinity. It'll take work and time, but there's nothing else the healers can do. Right now, he's still questioning what is real and what lies the Capitol put in his head. He's asking questions I don't know the answer to."
