Finnick was outside their bedroom door with a large bouquet of flowers at nearly seven that evening. When Amara stepped out wearing a long black dress with a slit down the side, his jaw dropped and his eyes roamed all over her body.

"You look beautiful," he said quietly. He didn't move toward her for a moment. He just stood there, taking all of her in. She slowly spun in a circle, showing him the dress from every angle, and his eyes darkened a little.

He stepped forward, into her space, cradling her chin, and bringing her mouth to his. His kiss was hard, unlike all his other kisses. She found that she was willing to spend the rest of her life tasting the many kisses of Finnick Odair.

"You're exquisite," he muttered against her mouth before he pulled away, grinning, when her cheeks turned a light shade of pink and she appeared slightly breathless.

He handed her the bouquet and she took them gently, handing them to Jade, who was standing on the other side of the door, cradling Cinzia in her arms.

"If this is how Jade dressed me, I'm curious about where we're going," she said. Jade winked at her on the way out the door, and Finnick couldn't help but admire Amara as she stepped out of the room and into the cold winter night. She tugged on a fur coat that Finnick recognized as something she used to own while living in the Capitol, and tucked her hand around the crook of his elbow as they made their way out of the President's Mansion and down into the streets.

He led her past where her apartment used to be and through the crowded streets of the Capitol. People from both the districts and Capitol alike were coming up and saying hi to them, asking for autographs and photos, and it took them twice as long to get to the restaurant as either of them would have liked, but they both smiled for the camera and signed the pieces of papers shoved their direction.

Finnick took her to a restaurant in the heart of the Capitol. There was a man playing the piano in the corner of the room, and a large chandelier hang in the center of the room.

"Are we celebrating something?" Amara asked with a chuckle as she looked around the room. "This is fancier than either of us are used to."

But, Finnick just shrugged, pulled out her chair for her, and poured a bottle of wine he pre-ordered when he made the reservation.

He told her about how the district leaders seemed to be vying for the support of each of the victors to increase their chances of becoming the next President of Panem. She told him all about her meeting with her parents, and the discomfort at seeing them again.

"I know I promised my parents I would prove them wrong and figure out how to cure Peeta, but I just don't know," she admitted.

"This might not be something that can be cured," he said. "You might just have to let Peeta heal in his own time back in District Twelve."

"I don't want to do that to him," she said. "I want to help him feel whole again before I send him to Katniss."

"Feeling whole is not something anyone can make us do," Finnick pointed out. "Even if you wipe out the hijacking, he'll remember what happened for the rest of his life. No medicine can heal that kind of trauma."
