Derek, Scott and Stiles begin to dump the ice into the ice bath, as Deaton pulls Isaac and I aside to discuss what's going to happen. "Obviously, it's not going to be particularly...comfortable." Deaton directs his comments to Isaac. "But if we can slow your heart rate enough, Madison should be able to get inside your head and see what you saw."

We then move closer to the bathtub. "I can also make you feel more comfortable." I explain to him.

"How much exactly is she gonna be able to see?" Isaac questions.

Deaton's eyes moved to me. Because, in truth, I could see whatever I wanted in his head once I was in - not that I wanted to.

I pat his shoulder, with a sarcastic smile. "Don't worry, Isaac, I promise if I see any of your fantasies about me, I won't judge you."

He turns to look at me giving me a half lipped smile. "Ha, ha." Despite his sarcasm, the tension in the room easing slightly as we shared a moment of levity amidst the impending seriousness of our task.

"Relax, I'm only gonna be looking for what you saw that night. Nothing else." I assure him.

"It will feel like being hypnotised, you'll be half transformed, it'll help her access your subconscious mind." Deaton explains as Isaac kneels before the ice bath staring down at it and I stand opposite him.

Isaac looks up at me. "And this is your first time doing this?"

"No." I admit, my eyes meeting Derek's, who was stood on the same side of the tub as me. I immediately look back down, the memory hanging in my mind. The first time I had ever seen into someone's past was when I accidentally saw what happened with him and Paige. I still thought about that sometimes.

"How slow does his heart rate need to be?" Scott asks, looking to the vet.

"Very slow." Deaton responds.

"Okay, well how slow is very slow?" Derek questions again, leaning on the edge of the bathtub directly besides me.

"Nearly dead."

All of our eyebrows raise at Deaton. I have to extract all the information as soon as possible, or Isaac could actually die. Having that kind of responsibility rest on my shoulders made this whole situation even more nerve-wracking. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. The room felt stifling, the weight of the task ahead pressing down on me. "No pressure then." My eyes then move back up to Isaac. "Are you sure you still wanna do this?"

Isaac glanced apprehensively at the icy water filling the bathtub before meeting my gaze. His eyes held a mix of fear and determination as he nodded. "I trust you," he said, his voice steady despite the situation.

I blinked, momentarily taken aback by his words, before a small smile tugged at the corners of my lips. It felt surprisingly good to hear him say that. Our shared experiences had forged an unexpected bond between us. And I was grateful to have him as a friend I could also trust.
