She smiled shyly and lowered her hand. "Well, I think it's better if I go," she said, looking at me with a teasing smirk.

"No," I said firmly. "Stay." She wasn't leaving because she wanted to; for once, we were having a conversation without arguing, and my mother was ruining it. "That's just how she is," I explained.

"I see where you get it from," she whispered.

"Hey!" I protested, and she chuckled.

"It's getting late, and I can't leave Dan alone with the kids for too long," she ran her hand through her hair. "You know, they were really sad on Friday because you left without saying goodbye."

"Really?" I asked, touched. I had been so angry that day that I completely forgot about them. "Tell them I'll come by tomorrow," I said with a smile.

"I don't think so," she shook her head.

"Minji, I'm not asking for permission," I spoke seriously again. "I'm telling you I will pick them up." She shook her head again.

"Who is she?" she dared to ask, even after how she had been treated. I ignored her and started up the stairs. "I'm talking to you," she said when she saw I wasn't stopping.

"I don't think you care," I stopped but didn't look at her.

"I don't like her," she said firmly.

"I'm not interested," I replied, finally looking at her.

"You've been spending a lot of time with her, haven't you?" She was right. "I don't know why you're with her. Why did you break up with Eunchae?" She knew nothing... It had been over four weeks since we broke up, and she was just now asking why.

"Mom..." I said, closing my eyes trying to contain my anger. "Why don't you stop pretending you care and go about your business?" I couldn't help but be rude, no matter how hard I tried.

"Hae, come back," she ordered as I continued up the stairs.

"For what? Every time you try to fix things, we end up worse off. Just leave it," I ignored her calls again and went up to my room. This was getting exhausting.

Minji's POV:

"Jealous?"

"Shut up, idiot," it was a big stupidity.

"Come on, admit it. You're also after that pink dress," Iroha said mockingly. "And it seems Eunchae wants her back," she leaned against the locker, looking towards Haerin's, where she was talking to Eunchae.

"Don't you get it?" I said annoyedly, grabbing my books from my locker. "Eunchae is with Garam, and Haerin doesn't interest me," I said confidently.

"Sure about that?" Iroha laughed. "Then you won't mind if I ask her out?"

"Of course not," as if I would accept her invitation. We kept watching Eunchae and Haerin. Now Garam had joined them. Both exchanged fake smiles with murderous looks, and the "perfect couple" left.

"I'll be right back," Iroha said confidently.

"Where are you going?" I asked incredulously. Would she really ask Haerin out?

"You'll see," she said before walking toward Haerin. She closed her locker and was surprised to see her, smiling slightly.

"She'll say no," I thought, amused. In less than five seconds, Iroha turned around and walked back to me. Her eyes were wide, and her jaw almost dragged on the floor. I knew she would say no.

"Not going so well, huh?" I let out a loud laugh.

"No..." she seemed impressed. "This Friday, I have a date with Kang Haerin."
