I arrived home and my mother still hadn't arrived. Probably another one of her "important dinners."
I took off my boots and placed them on the first step so I could go to the kitchen, grabbed a glass and placed it on the counter to get juice from the refrigerator.
Once the glass was filled, I grabbed it and headed back to the stairs to pick up my boots and go to my room, but the sound of the doorbell stopped me. I turned towards the door and once again the doorbell rang. I left both things again on the stairs and walked towards the door.
"What do you want?" I asked, opening it.
If she didn't speak right now, I would close it and go to my room. She looked up and met my gaze, but instead of saying anything, she took my arm and pulled me towards her, swiftly turning and pinning me against the wall.
"You enchant me, drive me crazy, it kills me with jealousy when everyone turns to look at you when you arrive somewhere; I hate it when stupid Eunchae approaches you, I like your personality, except for the arrogant Haerin that I know is not your true self, I like your dresses..." she took a deep breath, speaking so much and so fast had deprived her of all oxygen in her lungs, "Haerin, I love you..."
I didn't let her say another word, I didn't even let her breathe when I was already hanging onto her neck, kissing her.
"When you want... I'll lend you my dresses..." I said between kisses, laughing, "I think they'll be a bit short on you..." I returned to her lips.
"I prefer them on you."

"I told you first," she reproached, tousling my hair.
"No," I said, laughing and trying to fix my hair again, "Come on," I pleaded.
"I don't think your mother will like it," she stood up.
"She won't be here, it's still early," I stood on my bed, "Besides, she's never hungry," I said, imitating my mother's stretched voice, "And I don't want to have dinner alone," she approached me, looking up due to my height.
"I already told you. Let's have dinner, and I'll bring you back," she insisted.
"Min..." I dragged it out.
"Fine!" she gave in, and I smiled victoriously. I took her hand, and we left my room.
Minji descended the stairs heavily while I skipped like a little girl. As we descended, we heard the front door close, and I stopped abruptly. The sound of heels on the floor indicated it was my mother. I inhaled and exhaled deeply, silently pleading inside that she wouldn't behave rudely with her.
"I think it's better if I leave," Minji whispered in my ear.
"No," I replied seriously, "I invited you to dinner," I smiled at her.
"Maybe another day if you want," she came closer and kissed my lips.
"No," I frowned, making it clear that we wouldn't discuss the topic further.
We reached the last step, and I could see my mother looking at letters and receipts on the small table in the living room. She turned when she felt our presence.
"Well..." she said, examining her from head to toe.
"Good evening," Minji greeted politely.
"Good evening," my mother said disapprovingly.
"Really, Haerin," she whispered again, "I don't want to make you uncomfortable or cause you problems."
"I invited Minji to dinner," I said, ignoring her, "We'll be in the dining room," I led her to where our plates were already served.
