"THE CARRIAGE IS WAITING," Clarissa said as she stood in the doorway of Rupert's bed chambers, subtly taking a glance at the inside seeing as she'd never had the pleasure - or displeasure - of seeing it before. The door was always closed.
Rupert was buttoning up his tail coat, looking just as irritated as she was, however, they were both irritated for different reasons. Rupert was irritated because he believed it was Clarissa's fault that they had received an invitation to dinner at the Bridgerton's and Clarissa was irritated that he was being such an ass about it.
"You say Lady Danbury got us this invite?" Rupert asked once again, Clarissa rolling her eyes. He caught the sight through his wooden mirror and tightened his jaw to stop himself from saying something he might regret.
"She did," Clarissa informed him once more. "And it was kind of her."
"I appreciate the invitation... for you," Rupert replied, giving up on his buttons and not even allowing his butler to help him. "I am fine with you indulging in society, but I would hope you do not get me involved in nonsensical events such as this one."
Clarissa was not arguing with him another time that this hadn't been her fault, so she only sighed. "The carriage is waiting," she implored before turning on her heel and taking leave for the front door.
