Shoupe touched my arms and guided me into the jail cell. I remained facing the wall., until he uncuffed me.

I turned around, as he locked up the cell. I sat down on the bench and put my head in my hands.

I wasn't worried. The Pogues would find a way to get me out of this place.

I saw Shoupe come over to the cell. He had keys in his hand, the keys to the cell.

I sat up quickly.

"The sheriff wants to talk to you," Shoupe said.

He turned the key in the cell and opened it. I walked over to the cell and followed behind Shoupe, as he walked into Peterkin's office.

"In there," He said. He pointed to the office. I looked at him and entered.

"Have a seat, Olive," Sheriff Peterkin demanded.

I sat down in the seat in front of her desk. My leg started to shake like crazy. I placed my hand on my leg to stop it.

"You don't have to be nervous, Olive," She assured me. "I just want to ask you a couple of questions. First though, I scanned through your files. Shoplifting, trespassing, and Felon destruction of Property."

I mostly stared at my hands, avoiding all eye contact. But I could feel her staring at me. I looked up and met eyes with her.

"I'm not proud of any of it," I revealed.

She nodded her head. "I know," she said, softly. "I heard you took the fall for your boy, JJ."

I began biting my lip. "It was all me," I lied.

Peterkin sighed. She went through her drawer and presented two pieces of paper on the desk. They had images of both guys from the marsh.

"Do you know these two?" She asked me.

I placed my hand on the photos and slid them closer to me. "Not personally," I replied.

"Have you ever had an encounter with these two?"

I nodded my head and gave her back the photos. "Yes. These are the guys who broke into John B's house."

She pushed those photos to the side and brought out new ones. "Here's a more recent photo."

She swapped the photos of them to more of a deceased image. They had cuts on them. The dude on the right was missing an arm.

"Somebody gaffed them, then used them for chum.
Watcha think, bull shark?" she wondered.

I put my head down.

"They died looking for the Royal Merchant," she told me.

I lifted my head back up. "And yeah, I know about that too," she said.

I was about to speak, until Shoupe entered the room. "You are free to go," Shoupe said.

"What?" I asked, staring at him.

"You're aloud to go home," Shoupe corrected.

I stood up from the chair and walked by the door. I placed my hand on the doorframe and glance at Peterkin. I let go and walked down the hallway, behind Shoupe.

"Who bailed me out?" I asked.

He opened the door that led to the outside. He swayed his hand to his left. "Why don't you see for yourself," He said. "They're waiting outside for you."

I smiled at him. "Thank you," I appreciated.

He nodded his head downward. He held open the door, then closed it.

I walked down the stairs and waited at the bottom. I searched for whoever bailed me. I expected to see Kie....or JJ. But no.
