Cloaked Hunt, Hazbin Hotel's musical mystery, was the talk of Hell. Everybody in Hell was curious to see what Angel Dust and Orchid had come up with. Everyone loved them and would watch any show of theirs, but them together? The excitement was just too much!
It was the day of the show and all the guests at the hotel were getting ready. Niffty had turned the bar into a snack shack and set up chairs before the stage. All the actors were backstage getting their mysterious-looking clothing on.
"Angel, what if I mess up? What happens if I laugh at a joke or sing the wrong part? I haven't been onstage like this before," Husk worried as he stood before his boyfriend. "I'm going to screw this up for everyone and because of me, Charlie's dream will be crushed."
Angel laughed. "Calm down, Husky! It's okay if you sing the wrong part. Potentially making mistakes onstage is just part o' the fun."
"Isn't it embarrassing?"
"Sure it is, but you know what? You get over it. It ain't that bad, Husk. Trust me. As for crushing Charlie's dream? You wouldn't do that, sweetheart. Even if you screw up there are other ways to get people comin' to this garbage place!" Angel reached forward to tie Husk's tie, as Husk was panicking far too much to focus on doing it himself. "There ya go! You look amazing, baby."
"Thanks." He looked up. "Maybe it won't be so bad."
"That's the spirit!" Angel exclaimed, smiling. He looked around the room to check if anybody was looking and pecked Husk on the cheek. "I believe in you."
Husk blushed. "Thanks for the pep talk, Angie."
"Did you just call me Angie?"
"Yeah. You're the queen of nicknames, so I wanted to give it a try."
"It's kinda cute. Alright, baby, how 'bout you run your lines with me to settle your nerves a lil' bit?"
"Sounds good."
As Angel and Husk went to practice lines, Charlie, Vaggie, and Emily were practicing singing a harmony. Since performance nerves were so high everywhere, Vaggie and Emily were barely fighting! Orchid was trying on her costume and quietly rehearsing her lines in front of a mirror.
However, one person was still struggling: Alastor. He was draped over the piano, melodies effortlessly flowing out of his fingertips, but playing the music wasn't his problem. His mind was bombarding him with thoughts of his nightmare and he couldn't make them go away. "I admire her lofty dreams, but the hotel just can't be," Lilith had said. Alastor couldn't get those words out of his head.
When he met Charlie, she was so excitedly pushy that he just couldn't resist helping her out. In that sense, she reminded him a bit of his mother. She had grand dreams and a kind heart. Her enthusiasm could kill a person! Alastor's death broke his mother's heart. He couldn't bear to see that same heartbreak in Charlie.
Sure, he didn't care about the girl like he told Lucifer he did. He didn't see Charlie like his daughter at all, he was only saying all that to piss Lucifer off, and it worked very well. However, because of her similarities to his mother, he loved her and wanted all her dreams to come true.
There had to be some way out of his deal with Lilith. He knew that if Heaven's angels got their hands on the body of an overlord and could come down into Hell, Hazbin Hotel could never succeed. At this thought, Alastor began brainstorming possibilities of how to wiggle his way out of the deal.
Lilith said he had to kill an overlord. He was an overlord. If he killed himself, Lilith and all the other angels could take his body. He'd never have to face Charlie's heartbreak because he'd be dead.
