Misunderstandings

"What. The. FUCK!?" Charlie screamed, tears running down her face. "Vaggie, I leave you alone for, like, 10 minutes, and THIS HAPPENS??"

Vaggie and Emily looked at each other, confused. "Char, what are you talking about?" Vaggie asked.

"Oh, don't you dare play dumb with me! I know exactly what's going on. The sweet little forehead kiss, the bra thrown on the chair- she may be someone different, but there's nothing unique about this whole scene. Vaggie, you told me I was the only girl you loved like that. I just can't believe you'd do this to me." Charlie stopped speaking, intense blubbering stopping any more words.

Emily stood up, stepping towards Charlie. "Oh, I see how this looks like, ah, that kind of thing, but it's not at all! Actually, Vaggie has something she needs to tell you."

"Yes, I do," Vaggie agreed, panicking. She wasn't prepared. Her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest and she could feel her arms physically quaking. I can't do this, she thought, giving up. Anything was better than the truth. "I need to tell you how sorry I am for breaking your heart. I made a mistake and I know I can't do anything to fix it. I was about to cheat on you with Emily. Our relationship will never be the same." Vaggie may have lied, but it was a relief she didn't have to tell her the truth. Maybe this was breaking Charlie's heart, but the truth would've broken her worldview.

"But-" Emily started, but a glare from Vaggie cut her off.

"I need to be alone for awhile. Vaggie, don't follow me," Charlie said, storming out of the room in a mess of tears and heartbreak.

Vaggie didn't even care she didn't know where to sleep that night.

"Vaggie, why would you tell her you cheated on her with me? You were gonna tell her. What difference is it to tell her now instead of waiting?"

"You don't understand."

"You're right, I don't. You lied to your girlfriend instead of telling her the truth, which may have broken her heart, but you've officially just lost her trust, probably forever."

"No. No," Vaggie said to herself, her eyes widening. She didn't even think of how fucked up this lie was.

"Yes! A past mistake can be forgiven, but cheating? I've never been in a relationship, but even I know that's not okay."

"I fucked up."

"Yes, you did."

"How do I fix this?"

"I'm sorry, but I can't help you at all here. I've only known Charlie for a few months. I don't think I know her well enough to help you in this kind of situation. You know Charlie better than anyone else in the hotel. If anyone can fix this, it's you."

Vaggie's heart dropped upon hearing this, realizing she was alone. She didn't trust herself at all with such a big choice.

Then, a thought came to her. Maybe, if she let the consequences of her lie ride out, maybe it would be fine in the end. If she could let Charlie be angry for a while and give her space, her emotions would ride out, she'd forgive Vaggie, and they'd be back to normal. It didn't matter how long it took, as they sort of had an unlimited amount of time in Hell together. That is unless one of them were to die in battle, but that was unlikely.

If Vaggie were to tell Charlie the truth, she'd realize it was a mistake to ever let Vaggie into her life. That seemed a lot worse than disloyalty. Cheating was a temporary mistake, but Hell would always feel the effects of the extermination she caused. Even if it was ended forever, they'd never get the lost souls back.
