It took many hours of work, but Vaggie, Husk, Niffty, and Angel pursued. Despite Vaggie usually being mad at the boys for everything she knew it wasn't the time to be a bitch. They were helping her after they had a long, hard day. Niffty might freak out in front of a camera or a crowd but in this scenario, she was absolutely crushing it.
Finally, the musical number was ready.
"Now comes the hard part; getting Charlie to come out of her room," said Vaggie, a rising feeling of anxiety filling her body.
"What if I do it?" Angel suggested. "I don' usually ask Charlie anythin', so maybe she'll think I really need her for somfin' if I go."
"Okay, go. Husk, Niffty, and I will head to the stage." Vaggie was grateful they had paused the productions of their show, The Cloaked Hunt. It was enjoyable and got people talking, but it got exhausting and it was nice that they didn't need to clean up their props or anything before making the song for Charlie.
Sitting backstage, Vaggie bent over, staring at her trembling hands. What if I make a fool of myself? If this doesn't work, nothing will. Oh, God, what am I doing? These thoughts filled her head more and more, worrying her more and more.
However, that panic didn't last long.
Niffty noticed Vaggie's panic. Niffty couldn't remember whether or not she had ever been in a relationship but could sense that her friend was in a lot of pain. Saving herself was hopeless but helping Vaggie had a chance.
The small cyclops walked up to her, an unusual look of sympathy in her eyes. She grabbed Vaggie's hands, who looked up at her. With a small smile, Niffty said, "Thanks for not being dirty. I like not having to clean you." Whispering and pointing to Husk, she added, "Unlike him."
Looking into Niffty's large eye, Vaggie couldn't help but laugh. All fear melted away and was replaced by a sudden boost of confidence. Things would work out.
The three made sure everything was ready and practiced a bit until Angel came back. "Okay, she's looking pretty sad, but I think this really is gonna do the trick."
Vaggie snuck over to the curtains and peeked out at her girlfriend. She was wearing gray sweatpants and was wrapped in a dark red blanket, mascara stained down her cheeks. Vaggie knew she would make this better.
Angel came behind her and set one of his arms on her shoulder. "You ready?"
"I think so."
Everyone took their positions and Niffty wiggled through the curtains, approaching the microphone they set up. "Introducing the best musical number you have ever seen that doesn't have a name!" she exclaimed.
From backstage, Husk whispered, "It's called Forever."
"I mean, it's called Forever! I hope you enjoy it!"
Charlie sat there, clueless as to what this was all about. Why are they all doing this for me? she wondered.
Niffty scuttled offstage and opened the curtains to reveal total darkness. Then, two pink spotlights lit up two figures standing there with their heads facing down. Charlie realized that it was Angel and Husk. Are they singing a love song?
Then, another spotlight came one, revealing a third figure on a platform standing further behind the other two.
Husk and Angel began harmonizing softly, and the figure in the back looked up. With a gasp, Charlie realized it wasn't just anyone- it was Vaggie.
