Mikasa launches herself at Ymir once again, leaving me wordless behind her. My left eye twitches once again as a high pitched ringing begins in my ears, taking over most of the sound from all the galloping and stomping. I shakily sigh, knowing that Mikasa is right. But even still, I don't know what I want to happen; Ymir did something completely unthinkable, killing Historia right before my eyes, but I don't know if I would be able to cope with losing her as well.
"Mikasa, wait!" A familiar voice yells over the ringing.
I snap my head down to Ymir's titan to see Historia clinging to Ymir's head. "Wait... don't kill Ymir!"
"Krista?" Mikasa exclaims.
"Historia!' I call to her, filled with overwhelming relief, and immediately dart to get to her.
I land uncomfortably on Ymir's head next to Historia and look into her eyes, unsure if I'm just completely hallucinating the situation or not. I grab her hand, feeling her soft skin on my fingertips, which was apparently damp - presumably from being inside Ymir's mouth. But I could still feel her, and she was real right before me.
"That depends on Ymir now, doesn't it! What are you going to do? I'm just killing people that get in my way! Choose!" Mikasa's strong voice calls over all the noise that rushes past us, and I look at Historia, worried about what she is going to say. Mikasa is incredibly headstrong, and reasonably so, to get Eren back. Both her and Historia are in the exact same situation just with different circumstances, both just wanting to protect who they love.
"Wait!" Historia screams, "Ymir will be killed if she doesn't obey them! She has no choice!"
I realise that there is no point in Historia trying to change Mikasa's mind, I had already tried before any of us knew that Historia was even alive.
"There's a limit to the lives that I can care about... and... that was already decided six years ago. So... asking me for compassion is mistaken. After all, I have no heart, or time, to spare. Krista... Eren... and Ymir. Which will it be? Will you get in my way, as well?" Mikasa argues.
I tug on Historia's hand, "we need to go. There is no point."
"No!" She pulls out of my grip, "I'm not leaving Ymir!"
"Please, Historia. I, too, will barely be able to live knowing that Ymir is gone. But I cannot lose you as well," I attempt to plead with her, but she's too caught up in the situation to hear me.
Ymir suddenly screams and thrashes underneath us, obviously upset by Mikasa's death threat to Historia. I lose grip of her head and fall off, but shoot my ODM gear into Reiner's armour to reel myself back upwards, my heart beating out of my chest so hard that it hurts.
"Ymir, stop it! Don't resist! You will die! Don't move!" Historia begs.
I watch the three of them closely, practically absorbing the tense situation. Mikasa grimaces, looking towards the ground, and suddenly changes course, directing her attention back to Reiner and Bertholdt. She's given up trying to fight with Historia, and just as long as they don't do anything rash, all would be okay.
I smile softly, filled with relief, before following Mikasa. She stares through the gaps in Reiner's fingers where Bertholdt sits with Eren, threatening him even without words. I land on Reiner's shoulder and charge up beside Mikasa, holding my swords so hard that they shake under my grip and may as well have indents from my hands. Letting out an angered cry, I lift my swords above my head, and as I reach Reiner's hand, I force down my swords between one of the gaps in his fingers. They glide straight through until the handles collide with the armour on his hands, and Bertholdt audibly gasps from within Reiner's protection; I stare through the gap to find Bertholdt looking up at me with frightened eyes, my blades inches from his face.
