Jason's pov
We just got back from the funeral and obviously she's torn up. I wish I could make it better for her. She slept the whole way home. But what do I do when I have to leave for the tour in a week. I don't think she's up for going and I really don't want to leave her. "Hey honey, I've got the tour next week, what do you wanna do?" I ask. "I don't care. Whatever you wanna do." She says. I sigh and hug her. "If you wanna stay home, you can." I say. Her arms squeeze my shoulders tightly. "No I can't be alone right now. I know something will happen if I am." She whimpers, confusing me. "Sweetheart, what do you mean by that?" I ask, holding her to where we're looking at each other. "Nothin' I just can't be alone." She says. "You'll never be alone, don't worry. I'll always be here." I say, hugging her again. She starts crying again. "Oh Jason, I don't know what I'd do without you." She cries.
*one week later*
I'm about to go onstage. She's talking to Brad. At least she's somewhat getting back to the way things were. I smile and go out onstage.
Miranda's pov
"I am so lucky to have him." I say, leaning against the wall. Brad smiles and grabs a beer. "The day you guys started going out, he bragged on you all the time. In fact, he wouldn't stop talking about you, it got to the point we had to tell him to shut up." He says, laughing at the memory. I'm his fangirl and he's my fanboy. He's the best. I need to pick myself up and do this. I can't let someone else sing our duet. Kelly is about to go out but I grab her shoulder. "I think I'm up for it." I say. She smiles. "I knew you could." She says, hugging me and handing me the mic.

"Don't you wanna stay!" I sing, then wait for Kelly. Shockingly Miranda comes out singing instead. I didn't know she was up for it. "Let's take it slow I don't wanna move too fast, I don't wanna just make love I wanna make love last. And when you're up this high, it's a sad goodbye!!" She sings. I smile. "Glad to have ya back baby." I whisper. We start on the chorus. I'm glad I got to sing with her instead of Kelly. No offense to Kelly of course. I start going into the last song of the night. Her favorite song. She told me the night we met. It's called my kinda party. I hold her hand and face the crowd. "Worked all week cleaned up cleaned cut and clean shaved, got the the cover off the 68, fire it up and let them horses sing a little purty thing, a little tan legged Georgia dream." I see her smile, bigger than she's smiled in a long time. My girl's back.
*after the show*
I lay on the bed in our hotel room while she takes a shower. Tonight was perfect. She isn't all depressed anymore. She wanted to sing, no one forced her to. She's back to her old self. I hear the water shut off. I pretend to be sleeping.
Miranda's pov
I know Jason's fake sleeping on me. I smile. "Oh well, it looks like that show tonight really wore him out. I guess I'll go to sleep too." I say in a slightly loud voice. I lay down beside him. His hands are on me before I even get the blanket. "Gotcha." He whispers. I'm just gonna let him have this little victory. "Yep, you so got me. I really thought you were asleep!" I say, pretending to be scared out of my mind. "Hey wait a sec, you knew the whole time didn't you?!" He asks with a smile. "Yes honey, I'm the master of fake sleeping. Here's a tip, don't smirk when you're trying to look like you're asleep." I say. He laughs. "It's hard cause I knew you were joinin' me in a second." He says, holding me in his arms. "I gotta up my game, maybe do some snorin' or somethin'." "Oh whatever." I mutter, rolling my eyes. I see that flicker of wild in his. He kisses me, passionately. One of the most passionate kisses ever. My hands fall to his shoulders.

She runs her fingers through my hair. I've got a tight hold on her. I'm never letting go. I want to make sure she knows that. She's the best thing that ever happened to me. I still don't know when would be a good time to propose. All that crap about not wanting to get married has completely flown out the window. I want to make her mine forever. I can't stand to be one more day as her boyfriend. The next step, husband. I know she wants it just as bad as I do. I find the box on the bed behind her. My hands suddenly get sweaty. Nerves, I guess. I lay her on her back. "Darlin' ya know how I always say, don't give up on your dreams?" I ask, keeping the box hidden. She nods, looking confused. Perfect. "Well my dream is to be your husband." I say. She smiles, catching on. "That is the cutest way to propose to me ever!" She cries, sitting up and hugging me. I hold her in my lap as she hugs me. "I wanna be there when ya wake up, be more than just your friend, baby there's no mistakin' you're the love I wanna be in." I whisper, sing. Not too long later and she's asleep. I can't wait to tell everyone, especially Luke, he'll be so shocked.
