Jason's pov
I told Luke everything. I'm still nervous about all this stuff. "Why are you so scared? You've got a steady career and the money to support a kid." "I'm... I don't feel like I'd be a good dad." "Why not?" I shrug. "Well I do have to admit, and don't get mad, but you are a little immature." "Immature, what's that supposed to mean?" I snap glaring at him. "The freak out over getting married. The whole running when you thought she'd propose." "Oh shut up, Luke." I mutter annoyed. "Hey Luke, I'm headed to the store, Come watch Bo please!" "Ok honey." We walk inside. "How ya doing?" He asks. "Fine. A little back ache but nothing too severe." Hm. I need to get out and do something. I so don't want to go home. "Hey Caroline, how about me and Luke run to the store and take Bo with us. That way you can rest your back." I say. She looks at me surprised. An so does Luke in fact. "Ok. Thanks Jason." "Ok?" Luke says confused. He gets Bo and heads outside. "I thought you didn't like me." She said. "I thought you didn't like me." I say, laughing a little. She laughs too. "I need some advice, Caroline." I say sitting beside her on the couch. "Advice on what?" "Miranda's pregnant and I... I just don't think I'm ready to be a dad. She's against abortion so that's out of the question." "Well why do you think you aren't ready?" I tell her what I told Luke. "Well I think you would make a good dad." "Why?" She smiles. "You can just tell these things. Girls have a really good sense of direction. Most would do anything to give the best for the folks they care about." That makes me think of her saying I was bad influence on Luke and Bo. I tell her that and she laughs. "I was mad. And pregnant. Hormones, Jason." She says standing up. "So you don't really think that?" "No. Sorry." I smile. "Thanks." "Thank you for going to the store instead. My back is killing me." "You rest it then." "I'll text y'all a list."
*A few days later*
I've been thinking long and hard about this after what Carol told me. I'm really surprised by everything she said. I was laying in bed thinking. Miranda hasn't talked to me much since that fight. And I haven't figured everything out I want to say to her. "Kasi's here!" Miranda calls. I head downstairs. "Hey sis." I say waving. "Do you mind watching Avery for a few hours. A friend of mine is throwing a baby shower and Billy had to go to work." I sigh not wanting to. "Ok." "Thanks." Avery walks inside and hugs me. "Hey Uncle Jason!" "Hey kiddo." I say forcing a smile. I wave to my sister then walk into the kitchen where my girl was. "Hey honey." She waves. "I'm sorry." I say sitting beside her at the table. "I kind panicked. I don't want you to think I don't want kids. I was just scared I wouldn't be any good at it." "I think you would." "I know. Me and Carol talked alot. She said it was a woman thing." She smiles. "Are you on board?" I nod. "I'm a little scared but I think when the time comes, I'll know what to do." She laughs softly. "Oh, Jason." I smile and hug her. "Love you baby." Avery runs in. "Hey Aunt Miranda!" We share a group hug. I kiss my wife. I'm going to be a dad. Well it's time to cowboy up.
