Jason's pov

The crew is setting up for the show while I wait backstage with my boys. Miranda's joining us later. I wish she was here now though. I down a whiskey shot when Luke taps my shoulder. "If it's anymore crap about marriage, I'm not listenin' to ya man, it's just making me paranoid." I grumble, annoyed with him. "I just don't want ya to lose her because she makes you so happy." He says. I roll my eyes. "Hey, Kurt entertain Luke for a bit. He won't leave me alone." I say, walking away. That guy is gonna be the death of me. Then I see a familiar red pick up truck pull up. I smile and lean against the wall. She jumps out with a box of cigarettes in her hand! Whoa since when did she smoke?! She also looks mad. "What's wrong babe?" I ask. "My mother. She's back to smoking again so I took 'em." She grumbles angrily. I breathe a sigh of relief. So she's not smoking. "She's already had lung cancer once and 2 heart attacks. I wish she'd get it through her stubborn mind. She can't smoke." She says, throwing them in the trash. I didn't really meet her mom the day we met but I'll always be grateful to her. She brought us together. "Well maybe after the show tonight we can go there and try to get her to quit." I say. "I've tried for years. She always uses the same excuse. I'm a grown woman and I'll do what I want." She says in a mocking voice. That's a song title of mine off my relentless album. Grown woman. "You're a grown woman too. She should realize you're only trying to help." I sympathize. "Enough about mom, big show right? Sanford stadium, the first person ever to play music here. This is a moment in history. People years from now will look back and say, Sanford, aw the stadium that the amazing Jason Aldean broke records of filling it up and making it the best show ever!" She exclaims. I smile and we walk inside. "Hey baby, you're singin' the don't ya wanna stay duet with me right?" I ask she nods and puts her hair in a ponytail. We have three duets. Dirt road anthem with Luda, the only way I know with Luke and of course my girl and me. I'm itchin' to start. My hands are getting jittery so I keep 'em busy with my guitar. "Jason, you're pacing again." Tully calls. I don't care. I keep pacing back and forth while playing tattoos on this town on the guitar. I'm not singing it, just playing the music to it. Then I hear them announce me to stage. "Finally, love ya baby." I say, kissing her cheek and running out onstage excitedly. This is a dream come true. First musician to play here ever. This is probably the biggest accomplishment of my career. "How are y'all doin' here in Athens. It's been a while since I've been in Georgia." I kick it off with Crazytown. The song I wrote when I first moved here, the song that reminded me of playing bars and clubs. The more I played and saw her standing sidestage, I kept going to Luke's warnings. What if he's right? I don't want to lose her but marriage is not something I like to do. It only makes it worse when Luke joins me for the only way I know and keeps giving me looks. I of course know what they mean. He's only looking out for me. He doesn't want to see me hurt. I know that but it isn't his life to interfere in. I get to the truth and look right at her when I sing, "I still need you yeah that's the truth, I still love you baby that's the truth." I smile when Mike hands her a mic and she walks on stage for our duet. "I really hate to let this moment go, touchin' your skin and your hair fallin' slow. But when a goodbye kiss feels like this." I kiss her and we sing the chorus together.

Miranda's pov

He has a worried look in his eyes. I try to figure out what could be bothering him but I have no clue. He should be happy. I see no reason to be worried. Maybe he's just freaked out about this whole thing. Being the first to play here and all. By the time we finish the song, we're standing in front of Rich on that slightly raised platform. "Goodnight Athens Georgia!! It was an honor to play at the great Sanford Stadium!!" He yells gladly. He tosses the mic to a stage hand and hugs me tight. He catches a beer can someone tossed to him from the crowd. It hasn't been opened and I know what he plans to do. His signature smash the beer can bit. He walks to the edge of the stage after grabbing my mic. "Thanks to whoever threw this. It sure has been a wild night." He puts the mic in his back pocket and does the infamous redneck move. The fans cheer louder than ever. He slings an arm around my shoulders as Luke and Luda join us. "Give it up for the folks who joined me on this legendary night, Mr. Luke Bryan, Ludacris, and last but not least my hot girlfriend who I love more than anything, my sweetest dream, my girlfriend Miranda Brown." I wish he could say wife but he has made no moves toward proposing or even wanting to marry me.

There's another thing. I can't say Miranda Aldean since we aren't married. I really need to rethink this never getting married thing. Then again, I've been drinking it's probably the alcohol making me think all this paranoid crap. She won't leave me just because she doesn't have a ring. She's still my girl. She'll always be my girl. We head backstage. I'm exhausted but so happy. Luke is still giving me looks. Damn I wish he'd leave me be. Brothers can be annoying. He's closer to me than my next of kin. That's why he cares so much but he really needs to back off. Give a bro some space. I sit on the couch, my legs and arms hurting from playing guitar and running around on that huge stage for 5 hours. Either way as long as I've got my girl right here rocking along beside me, I'll be just fine. she'll always be by my side even if we never get married. My chest feels tight as I think about it longer. What if she doesn't?
