*May's POV*

It has been two days since I showed up to that horrible Academy. I mean I have become a meme at this point. So many pictures and videos of me just tripping and falling have been uploaded online by the one and only Mona and her group of prissy followers. I also have been ignoring Betty J's calls as well; not because I want her to feel guilty for what happened, but because I cannot face her. I failed her on that day by running away. Since we were kids, she has been the one who told me to stand my ground and roar louder than anyone can hear. That is why I love her. She has an attitude that is so unique you just cannot mess with her. She is also super beautiful with her blonde hair that matches her sister's color and brown eyes. It is hard for boys not to fall for her. Everyone in the academy knows not to ask her out if they want to avoid a beating. She said she is waiting for her mate and only her mate to give her everything too. I wish I could think like that as well. I still think my mate is not out there and that I will be alone forever. Like one of those crazy cat ladies, but I would have many wolf pups to take care of. Maybe run a daycare. BUZZZ BUZZZ BUZZZ I finish my inner thought and look down to see Betty J is calling me for the millionth time. I finally answered; "hello?" I whispered through the phone, "Get the FUCK UP AND OPEN the DOOR!" She screams back and hangs up. I wipe my face really quickly. She hates when I cry a lot. I started making my way to the door.

Once I touch the knob on the door, I can hear Betty J already complaining. I know she will be scolding me soon. I quickly twist the knob and ran out of the way to the kitchen, which is to the right of the door. I stood behind the island and waited for Betty to approach. She quickly finds me and I can see the vein popping out of her forehead. She is super angry. "Well hello to you stop crying and let's eat first" she says while holding a box of fresh pizza. I set the plates I grabbed from my cupboard and grab iced tea I prepared freshly this morning. I set the jug down on the table before grabbing cups. I sat across from Betty J who had already placed the slices on each of our plates. I picked up the slice mimicking Betty who had already taken a bite and took my first bite. The pizza she brings is always amazing. I let a small smile escape my lips. "See, I can make you smile if you let me. Do not ignore me for days again" Betty J belted out. "Sorry. I just needed a break that day was too much for me" I told her while looking down. Betty understands how I feel, and she knows what I go through on a daily basis. I know she thinks she is to blame for this and feels guilty.

After we spend half an hour talking it out, laughing and bonding again, I ask Betty J to dress my wounds. She stands up and lifts my long brown hair out of the way only to find dried blood but no puncture wounds. "How, I had five nail marks on my head two days ago. The healing should not be this fast since I do not have my wolf yet" I exclaimed. "May maybe your wolf awakened early it might have happened, but healing is too quick I agree", she replied. At this stage, healing should have taken place in seven days when I turned eighteen. Betty J finished cleaning my scalp and applying ointment just in case it did not heal completely, but she assured me there were no actual wounds. We then clean up the dishes and make our way up the stairs to talk.

*Betty Joyce's POV*

I walked into May's house mad. Before I came here, I met with Ben who told me to go over and bother May. Maybe she will talk to me then. He did not already know I was planning to do that anyway, as we do not spend more than three days not talking to each other. I got smart and asked Ben for money to buy pizza for May as a piece offering. He agreed and we parted ways. I then arrived at May's house acting pissed off, so she lets me in. I was actually happy she answered my phone call on the first try. I found it funny that she opened the door and ran away but I had to keep my composure and continue acting angry. We then had the opportunity to talk it out and I learned May was injured by that pitiful Mona. "Hey, can you dress my wounds. I could not see the puncture wounds clearly and there was so much blood in the way", May asked. I got up and grabbed the first aid kit from the cupboard and stood behind May. I started to untangle her long brown hair and started to wash and scrub away the blood. I got to her clean scalp and saw no puncture wounds. "Hey May, are you sure you had puncture wounds? I do not see any at all" I asked. She let me know she saw them two days ago in the washroom. No way she healed that quickly so soon before her wolf took over. May must have been seeing things, but I assured her that there was nothing to worry about at all. I finish cleaning and adding ointment just in case to her scalp and clean up the bloody cloths. I did not want to panic her so close to her birthday.

We then walked upstairs to continue our conversation. I take my seat on May's bed, leaving her enough space to sit on the edge of the bed facing me. Today I must ask May to join the recruitment ceremony for Sundance Pack happening the day after her birthday. "So May, have you given any thought to what pack you will be joining in?" I asked. She wrinkles up her nose and shakes her head "I know wherever I go I hope Mona is not a part of. I just do not think packs are my thing", she answers. If May does not join a pack she will be banished as a rouge and live on the outskirts of town, which is dangerous. I kick her with my right foot extending which knocks her off the bed onto the floor. "OUCH! What you do that for?" she is holding her hand on her back." For telling me you want to be a rouge, did we not say we would join the same pack?" She just shakes her head and sits back on the edge of the bed. "Well, you and I are going to the recruitment pack ceremony for Sundance and we will actually mingle this time" I gave her a stern look. I need May to actually try this time and not hide in the back of the crowd. I need to train her to be strong so she joins this pack.

*May's POV*

Gosh Betty J is putting me on the spot. She started her conversation by asking me what pack I was joining. I have not given it any thought since last month was really brutal and I would like no one from the academy to share a pack with me. Betty did not like my rouge idea and I got knocked on my ass real quick. I know that suggesting being a rouge is super extreme as rouges in themselves are mate less and pack less by choice. Most of them get captured by neighboring packs and slaughtered. I shudder thinking about being slaughtered so early. I do have dreams and goals in life, even though I hate my body, but I do want to succeed. Sometimes I just want to die but other times I do not because of Betty Joyce. She is a good friend. "I will come to the pack recruitment just for you." I told her very softly. If she wants me to go, I will try for once. Betty was so happy she squealed and hugged me tightly. I finished our conversation and Betty took her leave. She had to go pick up her sister from the mall. She was buying a dress for the party coming up.

Later in the night, I was feeling super restless. I was breaking out in cold sweats, and I could feel anxious while lying in my bed. Something was calling me to go for a run. It was not uncommon for me to run in the night. The less light outside, the more chances I can run in peace and not have anyone see me run. I got out of bed and put on my favorite pair of black sweats with a light hoodie. I ran down the stairs and put on my sneakers. I looked out the door to see if anyone was there. No one. Quickly locking the door behind me, I set out for my run. I could hear something calling for me to run towards the west and continue. I usually run the opposite way to the other side of the forest, but I followed the voice to where it was taking me. I ended up in a small clearance and saw a light guiding down from the sky. I stopped to see the moon glistening from the trees, I stopped above it soaking in the moon. "Hello, my child" I hear from the right of me. I turned and I saw her.
