Ch. 13 First meeting

*Ben's POV*

Tonight is the big night, as the party started everyone was left to mingle and I was dreading talking to so many people. Afterall, since I am the next Alpha a lot of people try to befriend me for power or status which I can spot a mile away. The only friends I have work for me, but I love Pedro and Jordan, even though I do not say it I am happy I met them. I was scoping the party when some skinny chick with a low-cut dress walks up to me. It took me a moment to recognize her that got my blood boiling and my wolf wild. That girl. She's the big bully! Toss her to the side! My wolf was howling. I ignored him as I did not want to create a scene or anyone knowing that I was practically stalking May. While Mona was talking to me, I made it very clear that I was not interested by looking away from her and mindlinking Jordan to come and rescue me. She stopped in her tracks and made eye contact with someone. Not sure who but it got her rubbing her chest all over my arms. In a normal day I would have been over the moon. This just seemed gross and unnecessary, especially coming from her. I let her know I must go and make my way over to my parents for the starting of the speeches. Right then and there I hear my wolf shout MATE! MATE! MATE! SHE IS HERE! I could not believe it. Out of all these people my mate is here. I did not expect to find love so fast but with my pack's tradition and the ultimatum from my mom to marry in 90 days, it had perfect timing written all over it. I wonder what she looked like, and from what my wolf was saying I could tell she was something special.

I took two minutes to compose myself and started going through the line one by one. I started to hear a commotion near the middle of the line but did not think anything of it. I mindlinked Jordan again and told him to fix it, seems that bully got herself into a pickle and got banned from our recruitment. Thank God, I don't think I could handle speaking to her any longer especially since I know her true colors and her getting close to me was just to become the Luna. I am slowly making my way down the list of candidates writing the tag numbers on who I accept into the pack and who is on the short list. So far there are a lot of candidates that match our packs motto and how we operate. As I move towards the middle of the line my wolf is howling in my head, MATE! MATE! She is here, she is close and I know she can feel me too. I start to Mindlink my parts to meet me in the middle. I let them know my wolf is indicating my mate is here, my mom is probably jumping up and down somewhere. I keep going down the line barely paying attention to what anyone is saying but I cannot concentrate. I feel my mom's hand on my shoulder taking me out of this trance, "son, are you sure?" she said. I nod and say, "Yes, my wolf is going crazy but she is near". She smiles and pushes me ahead; she seems eager for me to find her. I continue down the line they I see Betty Joyce; the feeling is stronger. I start running towards Betty with my eyes closed and halt as my wolf is howling like crazy, he is talking to his mate. I can feel her and know deep within this is my soulmate and my forever person, someone who when I open my eyes will be mine forever. Mate! Mate! Ben, our mate is here! Open your eyes said my wolf. I take his advice and open my eyes slowly. I see standing in front of me May! MAY IS MY MATE? She is just as shocked as I am. "A-are you my m-mate? Or am I dreaming?" she says out loud. "Uhhhh, I think you are my mate, wow this is... a lot" I say. She shot me a frown, that just made me instantly sad, I did not want to hurt her feelings and now that she is my mate it ate at my heart to make her feel bad. "May, I did not mean anything to offend you, I just thought that it would take me longer to find my mate" I said. She just looked at me and replied "Oh." Smooth my wolf chuckled.

Just to change the topic I turn around and nod to my mom to indicate my mate has been found and she is here. Betty and Lilly are looking confused as ever, I think Betty is trying to piece together now why I hired her as personnel. She was smiling at me like she is saying she told me so, which to her defense she did. My mom and dad walk up to the speaker to make an announcement as I am still staring at May. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce that our son the future Alpha of the Sundance pack has found his mate!". Everyone at this point is making audible gasps and I hear Pedro whooping and screaming in the background. He loves to add attention to me. My mother carries on her speech, "As we all know our traditions, and to the future children of our pack, once a first born Alpha turns 19 he has until his 20th birthday to get married or the title goes to the second born. With this news we are proud to announce some good news for our kingdom. Our son Benjamin Viper will be pronounced the next Alpha of this kingdom" cheers were erupting as trumpets sounded. She then continues, " The new reign for our kingdom is in! We welcome to the pack as well our future Luna and mate of your future Alpha, May Maxwell! Pending the royal engagement and wedding to be hosted for all our pact. Please join me in welcoming May and Ben on the stage". Everyone is cheering and I can see May being hugged by her friends. I extend my hand and say, "Shall we?". She nods shyly and follows me towards the stage. I proceed to make the speech on our behalf, "Hello everyone! I am excited to announce that on the glorious day of our recruitment ceremony we are given the gift of our future luna who will walk in the footsteps of my mom, our kind and nurturing Luna. For the next few weeks leading up to the wedding, in 90 days our future Luna will be living with us, getting to know our people and the traditions we have at Sundance. I welcome everyone to get to know her as I am sure I will very soon. Please raise a glass and continue to mingle while I finish the recruitment ceremony." After the clapping dies down, I turn to May and say, "sorry I know this is a lot but I hope that you will stay for the after party and get to know me". She replies, "Uh, Y-yes. I can stay, granted that you let Lilly and Betty stay, they are my best friends and I hope you consider them for the pack". I smile and say, "We will see, depends how you treat me tonight", she starts to blush. I make my way over to finish the recruitment ceremony while ignoring my wolf and trying not to stare at May all night. Who said I cannot flirt with my mate even though I am still trying to wrap my head around the last hour.
