Ch. 12 The Party

*May's POV*

We arrive at the main garden where everyone is standing waiting for the Alpha's arrivals. We grab light refreshments and some drinks. Betty is on guard looking for Mona because she does not want anything to make me leave. It's important to her that I stay here and we enter this pack together. I love that she wants only the best for me and that means we stick together. Only other pack option in this area is the Moondusk pack that is ran by egotistical maniacs. That's what my grandma used to say to me all the time. They make an announcement that everyone has 30 minutes to mingle before opening remarks. Seems that this pack runs everything on a schedule. I love that. I look over and I see Mona. She turns and waves at me. I then freeze in my steps; Betty sees and flips her off. We move to the other side of the room. Lovely how in a sea of 1000 people I had to find her. Just my luck. "Looks like she's flirting with the Alpha of this pack, maybe trying to manipulate the Luna position," Said Lilly. I make a gagging noise. "Like I would be in any pack she would be Luna of. I would rather go rouge" I said. Betty hits me in the ribs, "Not so loud I do not want the Omegas spreading rumors about your joke" "Okay, Okay OUCH! I got the memo" I said rubbing my side. My remark was true, even if I got in the pack, I would not be able to stay without Mona making my life hard. There are so many surrounding packs, they are not as big but it would be Mona free.

We make our way around talking and mingling with the rest of the party. I even talked to the Alpha and Luna's daughter Liz who was super nice and welcoming. She also dressed really nice and complemented all our outfits. We were heading around the group when I heard my wolf yell MATE. Here? My mate is here? Wow, I been too focused on my parents and what the moon goddess said that I forgot that I could potentially have a mate. I grabbed Betty's arm and whispered I her ear "My mate is here; I can hear my wolf telling me. Oh my GOSH. MY mate!" I told her. She started smiling "May! That is good news! We need to find him tonight, this is happening!" she said. I thought about it. What if my mate does not like me and thinks I am ugly. I cannot handle the rejection. It's going to kill me. My wolf was trying to calm me and assured me that my mate would never do that. We make our rounds again before the Alpha and Luna of the pack make an announcement. They welcome everyone and explaining the roles and duties of the pack and how many applicants they are accepting this year including early acceptance into the pack for the next year's batch. Lilly looked excited as this is the first time they are offering early acceptance for wolves as every year in the past they only look at seniors for their pack. The Luna proceeds to ask everyone to line up and that Ben their son will be starting the recruitment in order of the numbers on the band. I ended up somewhere in the middle of the line with Betty and Lilly right before me. We had 5 minutes to impress and answer any questions Ben would have for the future members of the pack. I was trying to find my place in line when I felt blood on my thigh. Mona was standing behind me with scissors trying to cut up my dress but ended up cutting my thigh. "MONA WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM" Betty screams. Everyone is now looking at us. "Well, her dress was hiding her thighs thought to highlight them to Ben" She starts laughing. I was starting to think I could have a nice evening, especially on an important day for Betty J. I have to be strong and not let her get to me, my wolf would scold me if I continue these thoughts so I don't. "That is enough! We do not tolerate bulling here in this pack, we are escorting you out" Jordan grabbed Mona's arm while she protested to him to let her go. His grip got tighter on her little arm the more she squirmed away. She was yelling she is the future Luna and that we are all fools for making her leave. Betty was laughing "YEAH! See what happens to the Wicked" and proceeded to throw up her middle fingers. This made me chuckle that my friend can always cheer me up when she is petty. Her goons were running after her forfeiting their application in the pack. I was trying not to cry (of laughter). "Let me help you" Lilly was saying. She ripped up the dress above my thigh, "what are you doing" I said. "Trust the process!" She said. I then nodded and let her do her work. The dress was now modified, and the wound was all healed up. It was like it never happened, even Lilly was able to hide the blood spots, nothing was going to stop me now. I was now the one trying to calm my wolf since she wanted me to go after Mona right then and there. I took my place back in the line waiting for the next Alpha to interview me. I was getting nervous now. Too late to leave and besides Betty would kill me if I did. I was shocked to say the least that in all the hustle of a nice evening Mona would even try this at a recruitment ceremony. Even more so that this pack does not tolerate bullying, which makes me want to join Sundance more than ever.
