Ch 10 Meet the parents

*Mona's POV*

Life has been a drag since I got suspended. After preparing all the posters to be hung on the wall as an early birthday present for that orphan I got suspended. She must have told the headmaster what I done. After all the power I had, I owned the school. I was not too happy after leaving the office and told to stay at home I will make that bitch pay. I have been spending the last three days at home and hating it, there was nothing to do. I was given class homework which I made Luna and Reyna do. It helps when you have two idiots at your command. "What is taking so long? Finish the essay and fix my room!" I barked sitting on the bed. "On it, Mona" Luna said. Pathetic. I laid my head back down on the pillow letting the face mask calm my nerves. Tonight is the Sundance Pack recruitment ceremony and I know for a fact that the headmaster cannot ban me from going to that. 20 minutes later my face felt refreshed, and my homework was completed. It was almost time for all of us to get ready. "I am so glad we had first pick at the mall, all the she wolves will be jealous of our dresses" Reyna said. "I agree we will be the best dressed at the party, and hopefully you snag the Alpha" said Luna towards me. I forgot that the Alpha will be present. If I wanted to be considered as a future Luna of the pack, I have to do all that I can to be noticed. That and having a little fun, I know that May will be present I have to make sure that she does not get into this pack at all.

"Okay start to get changed we got to arrive on time to make a good impression" I said. The girls nod before starting on their hair and makeup. They did a matching smokey eye look with braided hair. They knew to help me get ready next. I sat down at the desk while Luna did my makeup and Reyna worked on my hair. "Ouch! Quit pulling my hair! Learn to be gentle" I screamed at Reyna. She looked like she was about to cry. I grabbed the brush out of her hands and started to do my own hair. I ushered Luna away too as it was hard to see. "Both of you are terrible at being girls. Cannot do hair or makeup. Go downstairs. Your faces are making me sick" I said in disgust. They apologize hastily before making their way downstairs. I quickly curl my hair and finish my glam look inspired makeup. I put on my long satin dress and grabbed my black handbag. I made my way down the stairs to the kitchen where both girls were eating my food. "Who gave you permission to go in my fridge! Spit it out now!" I was pissed. "Sorry Mona" Both girls exclaimed spitting out the food in the garbage. This was making me even more upset. "Luna grab me the kitchen scissors" I said. She hesitated before passing me the scissors. I placed them in my black handbag. "Girls, if you see May tonight alert me immediately". Luna replied, "What are the scissors for?" "In case the orphan needs some dress adjustments" I winked. The girls laughed they were in agreement of my plan. We all went outside and into the twin's car. I sat in the front seat where I belong. We started our journey to the pack territory. In just a few hours I will be able to feel normal again with May begging for mercy at my knees.

*Ben's POV*

I woke up feeling refreshed. I stretched my arms up high and yawned hugely. It did feel good are last night's release, I felt the stress melt away from this party. I removed my blanket and stood up, time to shower and check in on the preparations. I walk into the bathroom and remove my clothes; the hot water feels good on my skin. I stayed under the water until it became cold, it was time to dress for the day and oversee the operation. I pick up my clipboard from the dresser and head downstairs. I see Jordan helping the caterer set up the food table adding in hot plates and cutlery. "Hey Ben, after you are done making rounds the Alpha and Luna wanted to speak to you" he said. "My parents? Probably to give me more stress" I said and laughed. I went out to the garden and checked that the flower arrangements were completed before heading to the after-party location to make sure the chairs arrived. All seemed to be in check. The main ballroom was already set up with tables and place mats mapping out the elders and elites. I scanned my checklist checking off all the tasks I already completed. I have only to interview future pack members and deliver speeches which are party activities. I circle to the kitchen and check that the chefs are taken care of while making delicious food. "Alpha please eat you been running around for hours" one of the chefs said. Just as my stomach rumbled, he handed me a plate of pasta with salad and some iced tea. "Thank you, you are too kind" I smiled. I set the plate down at a table in the ballroom and started to eat. The food exploded in my mouth, it was very good and I am happy I picked the menu. Everything was going to plan. I mindlinked my Dad that I would be at his office shortly. I went back to the kitchen to wash my plate when I saw Pedro.

"Hey where were you last night, I called you and you were not at your post" I asked. "Bro I was busy taking care of business. You know I care about the pack and want the best for everyone" he said. I scanned his face he was telling the truth. "Okay, if you need time off let me know. I know you have a lot on your plate and with school I don't want to burn you out". "No, Ben trust me I am fine but thank you" he said. I know he is stressed but Pedro has a good heart. Just before he walks away, I ask, "Do you mind pulling a double tonight, I need extra security detail for the party". He nods and lets me know he will be able to. This is what I love about him, he is hard working. I then made my way to my Dad's office. KNOCK KNOCK "Come on in" he said. I swung the door open and took a seat on the couch. My Mom was also present sitting beside my father. "If you are calling me to talk about the party, I have everything under control. Everything is beautifully arranged, and the guest will be arriving shortly" I said. My parents looked at each other "We know you would be able to handle it but that is not why we called you in here today". I was confused, why would they call a meeting right before the party. My Dad continued, "Son, you are about to become the Alpha of the pack while your Mom and I retire. We both want to see you happy, but we need you to make a decision. We are going to announce tonight that the party is also your engagement party". WHAT! Engagement, I do not even have a mate yet! "This is crazy! Who am I marrying, I will not be forced to marry someone the Moon Goddess does not hand pick for me" I said angrily. "Son, we know that you will have a fine mate but the reality is that we want you to mingle and pick the future Luna of the pack. You know our tradition," said my Mother. In the Sundance pack an Alpha at 19 finds his mate or must marry to receive the title of Alpha of the pack. I thought my parents were going to wait a bit more for me to find my mate before throwing this at me. "I am not even 20 yet I still have a few months left, you did not give me time to find my mate. I will NOT pick any old she wolf at the party and make her a wife" I said. "We know where you stand son. You have 90 days to find a Luna, or your title will go to Liz. It is our tradition of the pack, and you should be understanding" he said. Is he serious? 90 days isn't a big amount of time. I needed time to get away and clear my head. I mindlinked Pedro to start his security detail in 10 minutes as I needed to clear my head. "Both of you are wrong. Do not make me mad tonight" I shouted at my parents before bolting out.

I ran out the palace door and into the woods; I can feel my wolf starting to take over. I leap in midair, and he morphs hitting the ground running on all fours. I start running towards a little clearance and my mind cannot get away from what I just heard. I needed to get further away. I make a right and head towards pack lines. I started to ease up and my mind relaxed. I slowed down and turned left. SNAP I heard a twig crunch. My ears snapped left where I saw my sister soaking wet walking through the forest. What was she doing by herself at this hour. I mindlinked her, Liz what are you doing dripping wet in the forest? I asked. "I was worried about tonight, you know fucking up and dove under the waterfall. I needed to clear my head" she said. I understand that. This is why I am out here in wolf form, I let her know. Liz knew the pressure to be perfect from our parents, they had recently been disappointed with her which made her distant. "Okay well I am going to shower and get changed for the party, please get home soon we all need you for tonight" she said. I started to run back towards the territory before shifting back. I really needed that. I grabbed some spare clothes hidden in a tree and made my way back to my room to get prepared for tonight.
