He was certain that amidst the Christmas shopping frenzy that had once again engulfed Diagon Alley, he had had everything under control. He was certain that he had seen the man and that he had not foreseen any danger arising from him.

He was also certain that the yellow light came from the said man's wand.

Severus was supposed to be better than that, quicker than that, and not so easily caught off guard. Nevertheless, he couldn't quite dismiss the fact that he was indeed hit with a spell of an unknown origin as he was currently lying in a bed at... St. Mungo's if the sheets' insignia was to be believed.

He scooted over to the foot of the bed to check his chart. He scanned it very quickly for it was short, likely meaning that they had no clue what he was hit with.

He snorted. Typical.

The door opened as he settled back against the pillows and a middle-aged woman dressed in Healer's clothes appeared, reading the chart in her hands.

"How are you feeling, Mr Snape?" she asked in a no-nonsense tone.

"Normal," he answered, wondering if he wasn't even worth her attention. Some people were still like that; ignoring him, or making sure that they spent as little time in his company as necessary. Luckily, he wasn't one of those self-centred imbeciles, so he wasn't fazed by that at all.

It just made him want to cooperate less with them. Or at all.

She nodded. "We have run your blood and saliva and found no due cause for concern. It would help if you could tell us everything you remember." At that point, she looked up. Her eyes glazed over and Severus could see her knees were wobbling a bit.

He was aware that his stare was powerful, but even he knew that it had its limits.

"I was caught unawares by a yellow spell, but I couldn't possibly say what kind."

She stuttered when she replied, "N-no, that's completely understandable, I mean, of course, you're a very talented wizard, no doubt. It was probably the people around you who obstructed your view," she giggled. He raised an eyebrow.

"Sooo, what were you doing in Diagon Alley? Last minute shopping for your wife?"

Severus didn't recall Healers being this nosy. "How is that relevant?"

"Oh, you never know, the culprit could have been hoping to stop you from whatever you had been doing," she said, winking at him.

Winking.

At him.

"I highly doubt that, but for the sake of argument, I was buying potion ingredients."

"Oh, yes, I'm always out of newts' eyes, I know that feeling," she paused, before continuing, "Should we call someone to come and collect you, just for safety purposes? Your wife, maybe?"

"No, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself."

He had to get out of there.

"Let me help, please. I'd like to check you for any side effects caused by the spell," she said as she moved to place the chart on the little end table next to her and angled her body to stride over to Severus.
