It was the day of Chandni's escape. More like, it was night.

Bondita already met Chandni during the day and explained the plan to her, bidding her a final farewell.

"Som, you need to climb fast," Anirudh urged as he was holding the ladder near Chameli's window.

"Dada, unlike Batuk and Boudi, I am not habituated with climbing trees," Som retorted while taking a few steps on the ladder.

"We don't have time, Som," Anirudh let out, looking here and there.

If they were caught, everything would go downhill and then Chandni would be forced to get married to a stranger – the thought itself sent a shiver down Anirudh's spine. He couldn't watch a girl's life getting ruined at any cost.

Som finally climbed up the steps and knocked on Chandni's window.

Chandni had everything packed and the moment she heard a knock, she rushed to open the window.

"Bondita Didi's Devar!" Chandni heaved a sigh in relief, seeing him, before glaring at him. "What took you so long? I thought you would forget this too, like you forgot to pass my message to Bondita Didi."

"Come on. At least, I informed her at last. How long will you taunt me about this?" Som frowned and stepped into her room.

Chandni chuckled. "Jab taak saanse chalenge, tab taak main apko ye tana deti rahungi, Bondita Didi's Devar."

Som rolled his eyes dramatically, before saying, "Climb into the ladder. Dada is waiting."

"Mera samaan—"

"I will take these," Som uttered and took the bag she packed.

Chandni nodded and was about to climb on the ladder, but she stopped. She took a full scan of her room, probably remembering all the moments she spent there.

Then her eyes went on the closed door of her bedroom.

"Maa is standing there, guarding the room. It must be hard for her." She then glanced at Som, her eyes teary. "Take care of my maa, Bondita Didi's Devar. Please. She is making a huge sacrifice."

Som smiled subtly and nodded. "I will, Chandni."

Hearing her name rolling out from his tongue, made Chandni feel something — something she never felt before.

She smiled back at Som, a tear sliding through her eye at the thought of leaving this house. Som's heart clenched at that sight. He wanted to cup her cheeks and wipe her tears. But he couldn't do that — not yet.

"We don't have much time. Let's go."

Chandni finally started climbing down the ladder, followed by Som.

The moment they reached the ground safely, a tensed Anirudh sighed in relief.

"Finally," he mumbled. "Get into the car, both of you."

They got into the car and Anirudh started driving to the railway station.

"Chandni, are you okay?" Anirudh asked Chandni, who wiped her tears.

"I am, Dada, I hope," she responded meekily.

"You are doing it for a better future, Chandni. It's okay," Anirudh assured her. "Think of the brighter picture, after three years from now, you might be a popular singer, a financially independent woman. It's all for a good cause. And whenever you need something, you can always call me."

"Yes," Som chimed in. "Dada has already made all the arrangements so that you don't feel any discomfort. You will do great."

Chandni was blessed to get their support. She had no idea how she would ever repay them.
