"Pati babu... listen to me..." Bondita muttered and he finally freed her from the hug, hesitantly. "Look, I am fine. I am here, next to you. Aapki Bondita aapke paas hai."

"Tum... sach mein ho na, Bondita?" he asked with broken voice.

Bondita's heart clenched painfully as she gazed at the man before her. Her Anirudh. Her Pati Babu.

He looked like a shadow of the man she once knew—his once bright, determined eyes were now clouded with pain and uncertainty. His usually confident demeanor had crumbled into desperation, fear lingering in every flicker of his gaze. And the worst part? She knew she was the reason behind it.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly nodded, unable to bear the brokenness in his voice.

Gently, she lifted her trembling hands and cupped his unshaven, weary face, her thumbs brushing away the stray tears that had escaped down his cheeks.

"Pati Babu," she whispered, her voice tender, soothing, like a balm to his aching heart, "I am here because of you... because of your love. It brought me back. And I will always be here. With you. Forever."

Anirudh's breath hitched, his hands instinctively grasping her wrists, holding them close as if grounding himself in the warmth of her touch. His eyes, glistening with unshed tears, searched hers, still needing reassurance.

"You... you won't leave me ever again, right?" His voice was small, vulnerable—so unlike the fearless Barrister Babu the world knew. This wasn't the man who fought battles against society. This was a man terrified of losing the one person who meant everything to him.

Bondita's heart twisted.

She straightened her posture, her grip on his face tightening slightly, determination flashing in her teary eyes. "Never," she said firmly. "I will never leave you, Pati Babu."

Then, with a small, knowing smile, she lifted one hand and gently pinched her throat, just like she used to as a child. "Shotti."

Anirudh blinked. A tear slipped down his cheek... and then, just like that, a soft chuckle escaped him.

Bondita grinned through her tears, and in the next moment, both of them laughed. It was a raw, broken laughter—one laced with the relief of finding each other again after being lost in darkness for so long.

Anirudh reached out, cradling her face in his hands now, shaking his head in disbelief. "You are still the same, Bondita," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.

She giggled softly. "And you are still my Pati Babu."

Their foreheads met, eyes closed, breathing in the moment—the warmth, the love, the promise of never parting again.

No more misunderstandings.
No more separations.
Just them, together. Always.
