Chapter 68: Broken and Miserable

Anirudh rushed into the room, only to find Bondita on bed as usual, lying down.

All his happiness vanished in a jiffy, seeing her in that same position, eyes closed.

Did Joy lie?

"I won't spare him!" the moment those words escaped his lips, Bondita's eyes opened hearing that familiar sound.

"Pati babu?" as soon as those words left her mouth, Anirudh felt his entire existence coming back. He felt alive. He couldn't believe it. His life was back and calling him the words his ears were dying to hear.

"Bondita?" he whispered, his voice quivering as he took small, hesitant steps toward her while she sat on the bed properly. "Tum... wapas aa gayi?"

His eyes glistened as it met her big dark brown eyes. A tear slid through Bondita's eyes, seeing Anirudh from head to toe. "Yeh... kya halat bana liya apne?"

A wide smile appeared on his lips. This was what he wanted to hear—her scoldings. He missed it so much.

Instantly, he went to her and pulled her into a tight hug, elated to have back his dil-ka-sukoon. "I love you, Bondita. I love you so damn much. Please don't ever leave me or scare me like that. I am so sorry, Bondita, for not confessing my love that night. I didn't want my feelings to manipulate what you feel. I wanted you to feel those same emotions for me so that you didn't feel obligated to love me back. And that... was my biggest mistake," he let out all at once, tears streaming down his face, but not leaving her from the warm hug.

"But now, I won't make this mistake ever again. Dugga Maa gave me my punishment. Aab aur nahi. I want to fix this. I love you. I cannot live my life without you. Please don't punish me like this anymore and tell your Dugga Maa to not snatch you away from me. Please, Bondita. I love you. I love you and I won't ever get tired of confessing this."

He ended up confessing whatever he had in his heart. He learnt his lesson really well, meanwhile, Bondita was frozen. She was quietly listening to him, unable to reply anything.

She waited for this moment for her entire life almost and now that it was happening, she didn't know what to reply. She thought she wouldn't pressurize him anymore but he was willingly confessing now.

"Pati babu..." she finally spoke up, trying to break the hug, but he was still crying and she could feel it clearly as the tears fell on her shoulders. He wasn't letting her go. He was scared she would disappear. 

She felt her heart clenching at this sight. How much her pati babu suffered due to her impulsiveness!

He was literally broken and miserable right in front of her. And it was her fault.

She knew she had to fix everything. And she had to start with calming and assuring Anirudh that his Bondita would never leave him.
