"i always come back."

Shuriken slowly blinked himself awake and came face to face with two people who broke into his house. First off, there was Rocket, who had his back turned and was looking for something, and we had Slingshot. Wait... erm... Slingshot? The one that he and Vine kicked out? With Rocket? I mean, he did hear that he and Sword broke up. "Wha-" He didn't even get to finish his sentence when Rocket turned around out of surprise and spoke.

"Hi, Shuriken!" Rocket waved at him when he realized he was awake. Slingshot flinched, he must've been thinking of something. Anyways, it started to become an awkward silence. The three of them were just... chilling. Weird looks came from Shuriken while an annoyed sigh came from Slingshot.

"What's with the bottles?" Slingshot sounded like he didn't want to be there, but he still had a lot of concern in his voice. Shuriken uncomfortably shifted on the couch and sat down. "Also, where's Vine Staff?" Shuriken went dead silent when he heard that question and ignored them both. He didn't want to go into thought of Vine Staff. He didn't want to forget her, but he didn't want to remember her, either.

"Shuriken? Are you okay?" Rocket tilted his head to the side, and Shuriken just stared at him. He refused to answer. He saw Rocket's eyes start to get a bit irritated, and Slingshot sighed again. "Please... just give us the shortest answer. Be honest with us. We're your friends!" That was a lie. Rocket never actually got to know Shuriken. They didn't talk at all. They just said polite greetings, but that was it. There were no special bonds between them. Shuriken was in a room with a stranger and an ex-friend.

"I'm fine." Shuriken's eyes looked away from their faces, it was obvious that he wasn't telling the truth. He stared outside, the sun was starting to fall. How long was he asleep? How long were the two waiting for him to wake up? Whatever, he just wanted them gone. He wanted to be left alone. He tried to stare at them with an expression that would hopefully tell them to leave him alone. Unfortunately, it did no good, and they kept asking him questions.

      "Where is Vine Staff?"

      "Are you sure you're okay?"

     "What's with the bottles?"

"Please... leave me alone," Shuriken mumbled. He started to feel overwhelmed with all the questions. Shuriken saw their expressions when they realized they asked too much. Rocket stared at Slingshot. Rocket nodded, but Slingshot shook his head. They kept staring until Rocket asked his last question.

"We will leave on one condition. What happened?" Shuriken rolled his eyes. He wanted them to leave, but he didn't want to answer. Well, just get it over with.

"So... Vine Staff got a biograph, and we named her Lilac. Then Vine Staff's curse got worse. She...," Shuriken trailed off as he remembered what happened, and crossed his arms. His eyes looked like he was focused on something, and Rocket snapped in front of him to get his attention. "Oh, yeah, sorry... Vine Staff succumbed to the virus...," Shuriken admitted. The room filled with silence, and Shuriken started to quietly sob. He tried to keep in his tears, but it was hard. Rocket sat next to him, and hugged him tightly. Shuriken accepted the hug, and he hugged him back. Slingshot watched it happen, but he did feel bad. He just didn't feel comfortable hugging someone who didn't trust him.

"I'm sorry," Rocket whispered. He listened to Shuriken cry harder and hugged him tighter. He didn't know how to comfort him. Normally he was the one to be comforted, but he wanted to tell him how he related. How he lost someone, too. He didn't know how, though, so he hugged him as tight as he could. Slingshot watched Shuriken cry. He wasn't a creep or anything, he was just watching him because he felt bad. It sucked watching him cry, and he wished he could stop, but he didn't.

After a few minutes, Slingshot thought of something he could do to help him stop. Shuriken looked up when he heard Slingshot humming a lullaby that Vine Staff used to sing to Shuriken when they were kids, and he sniffled. Shuriken stopped crying, and he listened to Slingshot. Shuriken felt a little better after Slingshot finished singing. "Thank you...," Shuriken tried to be loud, but it was like he was mouthing words instead of saying them. Slingshot seemed to understand what he was saying, and he nodded.

(honestly, i feel like laughing at this.)

"Anyways... I always wanted to put sand in bottles and toss them into the ocean!" Rocket snatched the alcohol that Shuriken drank out of, and he stood up, walked over to the sink, and drained the bottles. That was a waste, but Ban Hammer was probably too focused on chasing down Skateboard and other criminals to get mad at someone for wasting drinks. He washed the inside of the bottles with water, which hopefully got rid of the stench of alcohol, even though it probably didn't. Rocket closed up the bottles and stuffed them into Slingshot's bag. (that he magically has now) "Now, Shuriken, are you sure you aren't going to drink again? If you end up deciding to do it, please try to message us first. We'll be there for you!"

Shuriken nodded, "Yeah, whatever..." He was waiting patiently for them to leave. He was feeling uncomfortable, but he felt like he could also trust them. Still, he wanted them to go. He didn't bother telling them about Boombox. It'd make them worry about him more, and they might form grudges on Boombox. He didn't want any of that to happen, so he just kept quiet.

Rocket looking into his eyes. He saw that he didn't want them there anymore, so he looked into Slingshot's eyes again. Slingshot understood, and they both got up. "Shuriken, please promise me you'll phight tomorrow," Rocket said loud enough for Shuriken to hear. He didn't reply, but Rocket guessed that he agreed to promise him.

Slingshot and Rocket carefully tried not to step on the glass and headed out through the window. Slingshot didn't forget to collect Jeremy. They made their way away from Shuriken's home. Rocket shivered in the cold and crept a little closer to Slingshot. He (slingshot) noticed and stopped walking for a second, taking off his jacket and wrapping it around Rocket's shoulder. Rocket tried to hide his blush, and they kept walking. "Are you okay? How come you didn't say much?" Rocket asked, trying not to sound like Slingshot was being rude.

"I don't really... trust Shuriken... anymore," Slingshot whispered. He didn't want to talk about it, and Rocket understood. He decided to stop talking for now and save the conversation for later. Plus, it was peaceful in the silence. They listened to the crickets as they walked through Theieves' Den. The stars danced as they exited Slingshot's old home.

"You're back!" James ran up to Slingshot and hugged him. "I found new bugs! Could I show you them right now?" Slingshot chuckled softly. He nodded his head, and he followed him to his room. Rocket didn't talk to anyone. He followed the others upstairs, but he stopped at the bathroom. He entered the room and took a quick shower.

When he got out, he was going back downstairs to the couch, but he wanted to see what Alice was doing in her room. He opened the door slightly, and he saw that the room was pitch black. All he could really see was the shine of Alice's laptop and her typing something. He decided to stop and left her alone.

Rocket curled himself into a ball. He pulled his blanket closer to him. He stared at the clock. 11:11 P.M.? Oh! I can make a wish! Hmm... I hope that Shuriken will come phight tomorrow! He closed his eyes as he made his wish, and when he finished, he laid down, still in a ball, and went to sleep.
