📺⌇➴ Vox's POV

Late 1970's

Vox was walking down one of the streets of the Doomsday District, wearing a new suit he had gotten with the money he was earning from his growing company, Vox Entertainment Enterprise. His business was growing more every day, and he was proud of how far it had gotten.

But he was running the company all on his own, and he needed someone to help him. Some pitiful soul, as Alastor had told him- someone who was desperate for a name here in hell, someone who would do anything for what they wanted.

Vox walked along the sidewalk, looking around for someone he thought would be fit for the position as his assistant. As he was walking, he heard yelling from around a corner, and he zapped himself over to the corner and peeked around.

He saw a demon with blue and cyan hair, one magenta eye and one dark blue eye, and small round glasses with ripped, dirty clothes being harassed by a group of shark sinners. They were kicking and laughing at the small demon. Vox chuckled to himself. He had thought of a plan quickly, and he knew it would go well. He straightened his tie and approached the group, his arms crossed behind his back.

"Now, what is this we have here?" Vox spoke, grinning as he looked at the shark sinners.

One of the shark sinners crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "It's none of your business, freak. Get outta here!" A second shark sinner laughed and kicked at the other demon on the ground.

Vox chuckled once again, shaking his head. "I think I'll stay. Though..." Vox widened his left eye, hypnotizing the shark sinners. "...I think you all should leave before I rip you to shreds."

The shark sinners' eyes went magenta and their eyes spun with circles as Vox's power hypnotized them, and they all turned and ran. As soon as they were out of sight, Vox blinked and chuckled again, then approached the demon on the ground.

"What might your name be?" Vox asked the sinner on the ground, holding a hand out to help them up. He kept his expression neutral but reassuring, a manipulation tactic he had learned from Alastor.

The demon stared at his hand then took it, pulling themself to their feet and dusting themself off. "I'm... Papermint."

(Context: I looked it up and this was a name that came up many times, but my only source was Reddit so idk if it's actually the assistant's name. I'm going with it though cuz its cool :D)

"Papermint. That's quite the interesting name." Vox grinned more, shaking Papermint's hand then pulling his own hand away.

"Thank you so much for helping me!" Papermint blurt out, clasping their hands together and smiling up at Vox. "No one here has ever shown me kindness before, how can I ever repay you?"

Vox was taken aback by how straightforward and desperate Papermint sounded, but he immediately found the opportunity to get what he wanted. He chuckled and shook his head slightly. "Well, what are you willing to do?"

"Anything! Absolutely anything!!" Papermint sounded genuinely grateful, Vox could tell they were serious.

Vox pretending to think for a moment, but then held his hand out. "Let's make a deal."

Papermint nodded quickly. "Anything. What do you want?"

Vox grinned. "Your soul."

Papermint's smile faded away, his once grateful expression turning to shock. "You want my soul?"

Vox nodded, his answer simple. They both remained silent for a moment, then Vox spoke up again. "Of course I'm not just going to take your soul for nothing. I have a proposal."

Papermint hesitated, but then nodded. "Okay... what's your proposal?"

"You work for me as my assistant in my company," Vox began, his smile widening. "And I'll repay you with a secure place to live, money for necessities such as bills, food and clothes, as well as extra for whatever activities you'd like. All you have to do is sell your soul to me and work at my side as my assistant."

Papermint was visibly relieved to hear it was nothing huge or drastic. They nodded and took Vox's hand, shaking it. "Okay. Deal."

It was all straightforward and fast, and as they shook hands the area around them began sparking with cyan electricity and lightning. Vox tensed as he felt his hands begin to be shocked, but the metal braces he was wearing on his hands and wrists absorbed most of the electricity, and for the first time in a while it didn't hurt.

He grinned more, his screen brightening, and soon the cyan electricity storm died down. Papermint took their hand back, their hand burnt up from the shocks. But they nodded their head and looked back at Vox, seeming determined but nervous.

"When do I start?"

Vox narrowed his eyes, his wide grin still present. "How about Monday?"

Papermint nodded. "Sounds good."

They were silent, then Papermint nodded and turned, walking away.

As Papermint walked away, Vox felt proud of himself. He now had an assistant, and he saw that as part of his success. He decided tonight would be a night to celebrate, so he turned and walked off, heading towards a store to get some wine for that night.

Hey all! I apologize for the short chapter, but I promise I have something super cute coming up next chapter :)

I really wanted to write Vox finding his assistant, I thought it'd not only be a great way to lead into my next idea but it'd also show how far into Vox's success we are

Have a great day/night everyone!!!!
