📺⌇➴ Vox's POV

As the late morning light began to shine through the small rips in Vox's curtains, he slowly began to wake up. His system booted on, taking a few minutes to load before his face appeared on the screen. He slowly opened his eyes, blinking slightly as he became aware of his surroundings.

The first thing he saw was his room, the familiar setting giving him a sense of relief. Then he remembered what happened, and he quickly sat up and felt his face, running his fingers against his new screen and smiling. Then, he heard the low grumbling of someone next to him and felt the movement as something next to him moved.

Vox quickly swung his head around, jumping as he saw Alastor sitting up and rubbing his head. He let out a dry chuckle, his screen brightening slightly.

"Oh my gosh- hey, Al. Good morning-" He chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head.

Alastor looked at him, his expression clearly kind of annoyed. "Mornin', pal."

Vox sighed, his smile fading slightly, and his shoulders tensed. "Sorry, did I wake you? I didn't mean to, just got a little excited-"

"You're fine," Alastor interrupted, yawning and running his hands through his hair. "I wasn't really sleeping anyways."

"Oh, alright..." Vox sighed and looked away, looking at his window. "Thanks for fixing my screen, I hope it didn't cause you too much trouble."

"You're welcome, it wasn't an issue at all." Alastor chuckled slightly, yawning once again.

They sat there in silence, then suddenly a realization set in, and Vox blushed as he looked back at Alastor with wide eyes.

"Why were you sleeping in here?"

Alastor's eyes widened slightly too and he looked at Vox, going still and not saying anything for a moment. He looked almost embarrassed, his ears twitching.

"I, uhh... didn't want to leave you alone while you were unconscious."

Vox stared at him, then smiled a bit. He didn't believe it, he knew there was more. But that was enough for him.

"I appreciate it, you being concerned. Thank you, Al."

Alastor nodded, his smile widening slightly. "You're welcome. Again."

They stared at each other for a moment, then Alastor sighed and moved over to the side of the bed, standing up and stretching his arms over his head.

"How about some breakfast? I'm feeling pretty hungry." He turned and looked back at Vox, his grin widening slightly. "Why don't you help me this morning? I can teach you a thing or two about cooking."

Vox watched him, his eyes narrowing slightly, but then he smiled and stood up too, yawning. "Alright, I guess. But don't get mad at me if I mess up."

"As long as you don't burn down our apartment, I'm sure you won't cause too much damage." Alastor chuckled slightly, walking out of Vox's room.

"You're underestimating me!" Vox called after him, unplugging the charging cord from his head and then closing his door to get changed.

Minutes later, Vox walked out of his room in comfier, clean clothing. He walked out to the kitchen and saw Alastor standing there, flipping through a small recipe book, his ear flicking as he tried to find something to make for breakfast. Vox walked over and peered over his shoulder, looking at the several recipes Alastor skipped.

"Struggling to find something, huh?"

Alastor nodded, setting the book down. "I can't find anything that we can make. We don't have the ingredients for most of these."

"How about we stick with simple today? You don't need to cook some huge meal for all three, every day." Vox smiled, patting Alastor's shoulder gently and then turning and walking over to the refrigerator, opening it and looking in. "We have eggs, some meat... it'll taste very different, but why don't we just make the traditional earth breakfast of eggs and bacon?"

"It's not traditional, it's just the most popular in some countries." Alastor closed the recipe book and put it back in the drawer next to the sink, turning to face Vox. "But I suppose we could. Simple doesn't sound too bad."

Vox nodded and took out the eggs and meat, setting them on the counter. Alastor took out a pan and set it on the stove, then took out a cutting board and grabbed a knife, spinning it around his fingers for a moment and then grabbing the handle tightly and setting it down. His ears perked up, and he spun to face Vox, catching Vox by surprise.

"How about some baking, too? We could make some bread with the blueberries I got a few days ago!"

Vox blinked at him for a moment, then spoke. "I thought we were going to try to save those since they're really hard to import to hell?"

"We're not eating them, and what else would we use them for?" Alastor chuckled, crossing his arms. "I think it's a great idea. Besides, they'll go bad on their own. But bread lasts longer."

"That's not how that works, Al."

"Sure it is."

Vox sighed, rubbing the side of his head. "Al, no. Blueberries last two weeks without molding, bread lasts maybe a week before going stale."

"Since when were you an expert on food?"

"Since I moved in with you and your paranoid ass." Vox chuckled, nudging Alastor's arm. "Come on, you freak out every time you see even the slightest bit of mold on food, or if the expiration date is getting close. You think I'd just ignore that?"

Alastor let out an annoyed sigh, glaring at Vox for a moment before turning to start taking out the ingredients for the bread. "I do not  freak out, I just don't like eat food that's gone bad."

"Don't deny it, Al. You panicked when you found mold on your toast that you had already eaten half of. You refused to eat bread for a month."

"Shut up! That was different!"

"It was not!"

"Yes, it was!" Alastor closed the pantry and grabbed a bowl. "Shut up and help me."

Vox laughed, walking over and nudging Alastor's arm once again. "Okay, okay. My bad. Tell me what to do."

"Yeah, it is 'your bad'," Alastor muttered, beginning to mix ingredients and then guiding Vox through cooking the eggs.
