Aiden
"Am I crazy?" Matthew asks me, "Is that crazy?"
"Yes, you are crazy and no- that's not that crazy?"
Matthew has been talking for fucking hours (or what feels like hours?) about a girl out of all things while I work my ass off making him his favorite dinner. Lasagna. He's only been begging me for a month for it yet he can't even bother to help me make it, greedy bastard.
"So it's not crazy that the girl I fucked wants to go on a date with me?" He asks, seeking confirmation.
"Uh-" I clear my throat, "no- I think that's pretty normal man."
"But it's never happened before."
I shrug, "there's a first time for everything."
"But I don't even know anything about her!"
"That's why you go on a date and ask her all about that shit," I fill in the blanks for him. This dude has seriously never been on a date before.
"Huh," he says, "Interesting."
"Very," I mumble, concentrating on the lasagna I'm cooking.
"Well- where do I take her? The movies- boring. Dinner- meh. A picnic- ew nature. The shops- too much walking-"
"Can you shut up man?" I ask, "why don't you just ask her what she wants to do?"
He ponders it for a moment, "smart. Fuck, who knew?"
I sigh as I watch him walk into his bedroom leaving m to complete the cooking.
One hour later Matthew has had a shower, his blonde hair dripping all over the kitchen floor. He has on a nice piece of clothing and surprisingly enough, no trackpants.
"How do I look?" He asks.
"Pretty good actually."
"Knew it!" He looks into the one mirror we have in out apartment, "damn, I can look pretty good when I want to."
"At least your honest," I say sarcastically.
"Can you drive me?" He asks.
"Why? You have your own car mate."
"Nah, it's at a repair shop."
Great.
"C'mon Aiden you have to take me, you know I'm missing party for this. A fucking party."
Right, Tara Berks's party, apparently everyone's going.
"Fine." I say grimly.
"Really? He asks surprised, "you'll take me?"
"Yes, hop in the car," I roll my eyes at his enthusiasm.
The sun beams blinding my eyes, the spring has finally arrived and the cold winter is dispersing away. Matthew talks away in my ears rambling about some random shit that I couldn't give a fuck about .
"I'm nervous," he admits as I pull up in her driveway.
"You'll be fine," I say in a comforting tone. Matthews never been one for dating until he brought it up to me a couple of days ago, I was honestly really surprised because he's never given it a second thought until then.
"But-"
"No Matthew, she'll like you, you'll have fun, you'll-"
"Fuck?" He asks.
I grimace, "sure."
A voice calls out from the doorway belonging to his date- Josie.
"You didn't tell me your date was Josie," I whisper to him while keeping my eyes on her. Her body is slender, her skin has an orange tan and she's wearing a tiny top that just manages to cover her boobs and a tiny low rise mini skirt.
He stares transfixed at her as she leans against the wall and waves flirtatiously as if that's even possible.
"Matthew!" I whisper shout again.
"What?" He asks turning towards me perplexed.
"Josie? She's your date?"
"We're at her house aren't we?" He retorts.
"Obviously, but you didn't tell me it was her."
"What's wrong with Josie?" He asks.
"Well she's a little-" I begin trying of think of kinder words to fill in the sentence, "unhinged?"
He crosses his eyebrows, "how?"
"Doesn't she have a boyfriend?"
His mouth opens agape for a second, "no-" he says, "they broke up."
"You sure?"
"Well she wouldn't ask me on a date if she had a boyfriend, idiot."
I wouldn't be too sure about that, I think as I eye her off from a distance, her head is poked into her phone smiling at something.
"Mate, I'm not sure-" I begin but he's already out of the car. "Fuck it," I sigh because that dude is totally getting played.
I grab out my phone to text him again, maybe he'll reconsider instead of her dooshbag boyfriend (or potentially ex boyfriend?) beats him up. I mean Matthews strong- he's a fucking hockey player after all, but this dude is a real dick.
An incoming call from a random number pops up on my screen.
"Hello?" I ask into it prepared to hang up because it's probably a scammer trying to sell me free tickets to fucking Australia or something.
"Aiden?" The voice asks into it and my eyes narrow at the girls voice.
"Who is this?" I ask into the speaker.
"Alyssa," she replies quietly.
I sit up straighter in my seat, "Alyssa? How do you have my number-"
"I need your help," she asks even quieter now and I realize that I can hear her shaky breaths through the device.
My heart beat fastens at the sound, "what's wrong?"
"I'm sorry," she says frantically this time, "Tess isn't here and Caleb is away at some camp thing with his friends or whatever- and I have no one to call apart from you- and your probably really busy but I don't know what else to do-" she rambles nervously before I cut her off.
"What's wrong?" I ask again more demanding than before, "did something happen?"
She lets out a shaky exhale, "Y- yeah."
"What?" I ask my heart rate picking up even more, an unhealthy amount.
"I- I'm at a party and I shouldn't of fucking came- I shouldn't of and I don't normally do! I hate party's but I'm at this one and-"
"And what Alyssa?"
"There's this guy-"
"Who?" I demand, my car already driving to the party.
"I- I don't know his name," she stutters.
That's when I hear it-
Loud banging on the door- and a scream.
